1/72 - Potez 25 A2 resin kit by Grand models - released

I have to say, it's really difficult to get an accurate impression of the nose shape from the pictures I've seen so far.....While this isn't my preferred Potez (I'm after an Ethiopian one), It'd be good to have a truly accurate base kit from which it might be possible work (TBH resin isn't my favourite medium either).

Hi

Lets see what we have here... excellent packaging, excellent bronze parts,  excellent 3D parts, excellent decals, excellent Photo Etched parts , flawless resin and some probably minor issues with the cowling .

And not to forget some very angry people ????

My 5 cents  opinion

All the best

I believe that the only posted colourized photo of the real aircraft, in flight, with a bright aluminium engine cover against the background gave feed to various "hot smoking" comments about "issues" with the cowling.

Well here are some photos of the real thing with some closeups of the engine area.

It seems that  Grand models did a great work on the engine covers.

Have in mind that this is a Hispano Suiza equipped machine, ordered by the Greeks, so do not get confused with aircrafts with other power plants.

Your photos disagree with what you wrote. Just make a simple comparison of front opening diameter with the height of the upper decking and if you still don't see the issue with this kit, then there is really nothing more I could say to help you understand. And just to say that this is the most obvious, but not the only shape issue with this kit.

One may notice, that fuselage before cabin or windscreen, so in the part below upper wing, is lowering to the front, whereas in model it goes straight, parallel to wing. That makes the difference in "optical weight" of nose I think...

This is not very difficult to correct, anyway.

Cheers

I don't think anybody is angry, just a bit disappointed TBH:confused:

Some of us have been asking for a decent quality injection moulded 1/72 kit of the world's most widely used inter-war aircraft for quite some time now.....Frankly, this rather odd looking resin & metal representation of a uniquely Greek variant just isn't it, at any level.

Apparently we're still waiting on (not-so) Special Hobby.

Meanwhile, I had a second look at my Hit Kit's and Broplan's... Not easy, but perfectly doable. But a new, injected molded Potez 25 would be very welcome!

Carlos

I just dragged out those, and the Merlin, and a resin one with no manufacturer name.

The Broplan is the nicest build. The S  (Cough) Hit kits are going for $95 US now. Could there be any more flash? Could the plastic be more brittle :o !

It's buildable for sure. Looks lovely when done (because it's a model of a lovely plane :) ). But probably the worst value for money kit, at current scarcity prices, that were almost forced to buy. :( .

If we're a bit angry with anyone it surely isn't the manufacturer of this Greek version. It's the manufacturers; all Czech in fact, that have been using smoke and mirrors for surely what must be approaching a decade? Passing the buck about who is supposed to be making one.

I for one applaud this Greek kit. It has potential for modification/fettling and will make a welcome change from cleaning flash off of a Hit Kit, or trying to straighten the top wing 3 part blob in the Merlin. Anything to change the routine.

:goodjob:

We like a good debate don't we :D !

PS: I agree completely with J-W on nose/forward fuse. But it can be fixed with a bit of TLC, we're used to that.

Not exactly a cheap or easy route to any of the other variants is it?

FFS this was one of the most commonly used aircraft in the world for a decade or so.....Why the hell are we even having this conversation?  :wall:

I'm off to play up in the AZ Models thread.....Again!
