Wez
The 6th picture in this link http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=9&p=23334 is Meteor F.8 WH291/T shown whilst serving with 85 Sqn in 1969. Does anyone know what the colours of the "T" on the fin and nosewheel door are? Are they dayglo? Is the nosewheel door code dayglo and the fin code red or red with black outline? Does anyone know of a source for the 85 Sqn badge on the gun access panel? Finally, following the debate http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234988366-gloster-meteor-u21u21a-drones/ about the modification of earlier Meteors having the deep breather intakes, this one has them! Any help gratefully received.
sloegin57
Wez, can't speak for '291 but WK914/Y was at the Biggin Hill display 09/69 in similar but barer markings. I noted that the fin and nose codes, "Y", were dayglo tape outlined in black. Note no checks on the tips and no badge on the ammo door. :- HTH Dennis

Wez
Smashing job so far Julien, where will it be displayed when fully restored?
Julien
It will be at the Bentwaters Cold War Museum. They cut some bits of the structure out of the engine nacelle when it was used as an engine test bed after it was grounded, currently making those. Next job after that is to make the cover strips when the out wing panels join. Could do with finding a new front gear door from somewhere as well as the U16 one is too long and straight for am F.8. The museum is worth a visit if you are down this way as its in the old hardened command post of the ex RAF Bentwaters. http://www.bcwm.org.uk/ Julien

Interesting reading on the aircraft's history on the website. Wez
