longshanks
Amazing " used for target practice before being sold for scrap. " It makes you wonder about the accuracy of the RN gunners/ equipment during this period Kev
old thumper
I take it they were scrapped where they were beached and only the bottom of their hulls remain?
Simon
Is this one of the wrecks in the water? https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.8135157,-1.0945767,205m/data=!3m1!1e3 The perspective of the photo seems to show the row of fuel tanks at Rudmore Square in the background (to the east), as well as the lorries parked on the dockside. Martian
I take it they were scrapped where they were beached and only the bottom of their hulls remain? The picture seems to show one ship listing over to port and complete up to the main deck. Martin Edit: A picture painted of the destroyer beached in 1922 seems to correspond to the orientation of the wreck. Killingholme
Cool. I wonder whether the Mirage Hobby 1.400 scale V.106 kit could be used to depict the Grosse Torpedoboote (1913) V.25 class that both V44 and 83 were a part of? http://www.german-navy.de/hochseeflotte/ships/torpedoboats/gtb1913/index.html Will Edited April 5, 2016 by Killingholme
