Netting as hanging on tanks etc

LaurieS

Recommended Posts

After on the sides of a 1/48 Warrior netting. Looked on line for suitable material but have not had any luck.

After something which represents the thin rope netting on army vehicles and tanks to secure bedrolls knapsacks etc.

Any help much appreciated. Colour is not a problem.

Have you looked at bandages ?? Is being used for years to provide camo nets and scrim on vehicles

Fix with white glue then paint dry brush to pick out the netting detail

Or you can buy it look on E Bay for Value models

Thanks off to have a look.

Make friends with your local dressmaker!

No seriously.

My mother has been a dressmaker (as a hobby) for years and has a wonderful stock of different fabric scraps which includes various mesh fabrics and nettings.

Failing that go to your local sewing/fabric shop and ask them.

Thanks for your advice Dave. Not had much luck that is in Jersey we are limited. No body seems to stock, not suprised really, the old

fashioned netting with just squares.

I got some medicated paraffin gauze. Took some getting rid of the paraffin which is gooey. But it is very supple and I think will look OK.

Cut out to make larger squares which looks better.

Make friends with your local dressmaker! Hmmm think I will stick to nets. :yikes:

The bandages you find in First Aid boxes are the ones to look out for

Different sizes and mesh gauge

Plus not coated with anything

Thanks for the info. I took a quick look in Boots but they do not seem to stock ordinary bandages.

They were all dressings etc. Must have another look.

I struggled with the same thing, all the eBay listings I could see we're for elasticated bandages, which I read are not really the right thing. Is this right? If so can anyone point is to an example eBay listing (or elsewhere) please?

Should have added. You have to wash out the parrafin.

Also for 1/48 cut out intermediate squares.

Actually looking at it for 1/72 it seems that would work with out cutting out the squarers.

Good tip!

That looks great!

Thanks Steve. Bit messy as the gauze is lathered with paraffin so it takes a couple of washings.

Take care
