He is very relaxed and Bf 109 doesn't show any intention of attacking him. Combined with the title this is totally idyllic. Boxart doesn't claim to portrait post September 1939 scene 😁

KRK4m
What a mess with markings and serials! We are already used to some innacuracies in AZ/KP kit captions (French town of Bourges moved to Africa in AZ7572, 9-cylinder Hawk 75A in Norway 1940 in AZ7645 or KP72150 Albatros C.III from Polish Mokotovice airfield that never existed), but here the bar went up still. Every French mlitary aircraft until 1940 sported the four-character military serial under the wings, consisting of one letter and three digits. And there were no two different aircraft featuring the same serial - it's clear. The serial number visible on the rudder was the manufacturers serial. And here also there was only one serial allocated to a single airframe - it's also easy to be understood. The French Air Force and Aeronavale serials are confirmed altogether for 323 aircraft of these three types (105 D.500, 140 D.501 and 78 D.510) of the grand total of 381 built. Others included 14 D.501s exported to Lithuania, 24 D.510s for China, 3 for Venezuela, 2 for Spain, 2 for Japan and two singles for the UK and Russia. Remaining 11 aircraft have been ordered by the French, but their (underwing) serials are unknown (for me at least). The "French" batches confirmed in the serious sources were: 55 a/c D.500 mnfr.no.007-061 mil.ser. R006-R060 50 a/c D.500 mnfr.no.062-111 mil.ser. R062-R111 50 a/c D.501 mnfr.no.112-161 mil.ser. R172-R221 30 a/c D.501 mnfr.no,162-191 mil.ser. R962-R991 60 a/c D.501 mnfr.no.192-251 mil.ser. R222-R281 25 a/c D.510 mnfr.no.252-276 mil.ser. R112-R136 20 a/c D.510 mnfr.no.278-297 mil.ser. R282-R301 1 a/c D.510 mnfr.no.306 mil.ser. R302 4 a/c D.510 mnfr.no.307-310 mil.ser. N600-N603 6 a/c D.510 mnfr.no.317-322 mil.ser. N604-N609 6 a/c D.510 mnfr.no.329-334 mil.ser. N610-N615 16 a/c D.510 mnfr.no.341-356 mil.ser. N616-N631 It is widely assumed, that mnfr.no.001-006 were the French D.500s and that 357-381 were the D.510s for Russia and China. Other "empty" blocks (mnfr.nos. 277, 298-305, 311-316, 323-328 and 335-340) cover 27 a/c that equals the total of 14 Lithuanian ones, 3 Venezuelan, 2 Spanish, 2 Japanese, the one for the RAF and perhaps the "missing" 5 for the French. Nevertheless - back to the KP kits - allocating the same R175 serial for the D.500 and D.501 cannot be right. R175 was the D.501 no.115. Only the D.500 no.047, D.501 no.131 and D.501 no.146 do feature their proper serials - R046, R191 and R.206 respectively. R294 was the D.510 no.290, N600 was the D.510 no.307 and N604 was D.510 no.317. And R160 isn't included within Matricules allocated to the D.500/501/510 family at all (although some small block of five Matricules remains unknown - maybe that's the case). If the aviation history was easy it would be called football... Cheers Michael

Nothing new for KP/AZ. All Cessna Bobcat boxings are based on only two silhouettes and the same applies to the La-5, 9-cylinder Hawk 75, Sopwith Triplane, a.s.o. And I don't think it's a bad idea though 😉 Cheers Michael
