old thumper
It has just occurred to me that I have not noticed any mention of Halfords super fine finishing pads on Britmodeller yet. These pads come in a pack of two and cost about five pounds or so, I sometimes use them for polishing up matt enamel painted surfaces before decaling. A quick rub down with one of these pads leaves a matt enamel painted surface smooth enough to apply decals without the risk of silvering thus eliminating the need for varnish or klear. Also pretty useful for when doing a final rub down of filler. The second picture is of a Matchbox Lancaster that I am currently building, the old Matchbox transfers have been applied straight to a unvarnished matt enamel painted surface that has been buffed up with one of these pads, no silvering has occurred while the paint has retained a semi matt finish. Unfortunately I am unsure if Halfords still stock these, the last time I bought some was nearly a year ago and they are not on the Halfords website as far as I can see. Overhaulin
Thanks for heads up. Seems they have repackaged them. http://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repair/fillers-preparation/halfords-assorted-finishing-pads

old thumper
Thanks for heads up. Seems they have repackaged them. http://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repair/fillers-preparation/halfords-assorted-finishing-pads I'm not sure those are the same ones, the ones I have been using are super fine. Next time I am near a Halfords I will pop in and have a look to see if they still have any, sometimes not everything is the same in the shops as it is on the net.
