stinger-d
Hello everyone! This is what I have recently finished. An absolutely oob new Airfix Nakajima B5N2. There is nothing really special about this built, it went together pretty well and generally was fun to build

Viking
Great work on the Kate, how did you do the paint chipping? Cheers John (I had a mate who once had a Datsun that looked like that, plus rust)
stinger-d
Thank you guys! Chipping is made with chipping liquid, in the way known as hair spray technique. I brushed this liquid over silver layer and then scratched the paint
Meatbox8
That's a great looking Kate which could easily pass as 1/48th. The weathering on the paintwork is excellent. It's amazing how tatty Japanese aircraft got during the War. I'm seriously thinking of adding one of these to Stash Mountain even though it's not my usual area of interest. Not sure it will turn out this good though.
warhawk
Very nice build. Did You use the colors stated in the Airfix instruction guide?
Darby
Nice job on a lovely looking plane. I still haven't got one of these yet and I do like the Kate.
F4u
Very nice Kate with good weathering would like one of these in 1/32nd scale. Guy
stinger-d
I used an AK Interactive set of IJN colors. And I have to say I didn't like the paint. Unlike vallejo, mig or AK I used before this new paint hardly covered silver. I had to spray quite a lot of green
Graham Boak
That's a great looking Kate which could easily pass as 1/48th. The weathering on the paintwork is excellent. It's amazing how tatty Japanese aircraft got during the War. I'm seriously thinking of adding one of these to Stash Mountain even though it's not my usual area of interest. Not sure it will turn out this good though. Late-war Japanese aircraft could have very tatty finishes, when supplies ran low and primers were often omitted. Not those earlier on, which used high quality paints with proper preparation.
stinger-d
Yes, that's why I choose a late war scheme, the idea was to try represent a heavily distressed paint
sroubos
That looks ace; how did you do the weathering?
stinger-d
There is nothing special in terms of weathering. I first "filtered" it with heavily diluted oil, some shade of brown. Then "oil dots" and them pin wash. I also did some minor strikes and added a bit of pastels on the walksbon the wings and the wheels
