rossm
I'm thinking about - nothing so definite as planning - a 1/72 Pakistan AF B-57 in the overall dark green. I think this means I have to find a way to do the elongated nose for the all weather bombing kit. The only clear pictures I have are a single one on airliners.net and a couple in the book Asian Airpower. The details / ideas I need confirming if possible please...... I'm pretty sure the PAF aircraft didn't have the circular bulges above and below the rear fuselage. Did they keep the original seats or upgrade to Escapac or something from MB ? What is the small lump under the nose ? Has anyone done the conversion, if so was there a good donor for the nose (F-101, Skyray?) or any drawings ? Anything I've missed ? Hook
What scale? Perhaps a RB-57E Patricia Lynn nose, available in the old Airfix 1/72nd B-57, would be a decent basis. HTH, Andre

HTH, Andre It's a thought but I used the one I have and was going to go Italeri for the kit this time (the rear fuselage bulges are separate whereas they are moulded onto the Airfix kit). Checking my built RB-57E it's not really the right shape, tapers too sharply and is too blunt at the tip. It could be a good way to attach a radar nose of the right pointiness. TIA, Ross Hi Ross Take a look at my AFP B.57 album on may site http://ipmscanberrasig.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=15054470 The B.57's as first delivered were bog standard B's and C's so you could build an early one, but if you want to do one with the radar nose you will need to look around for something like a drop tank of bomb with the right shape that you can use, The RB.57E nose is nothing like and if it's the Airfix one, it's nothing like an RB.57E nose ether! The bulge on the underside is a camera. I have a drawing if you need it PM me. The seats remained the early Aircraft Mechanics Inc. model, I also have a seat album and B.57 cockpit album plus other B.57 details take a look around. canberra kid
The RB-1A Georgia Peach Bombing System was first fitted to four "spare" B.57B,E and C noses held at Warner Robins Air Depot and shipped out to Pakistan to replace four standard B noses which in turn were returned to the US for modification, eventually all the B. fleet were modified to all weather status some time after 1963, The wing pylons on the AFP B.57's were also modified so they could cray four F-86 drop tanks to give them the range to reach Calcutta. TOPGUN88
What about the patricia lynne nose and cutting the tip off and replacing it with a canberra fuel tank nose cone? side pic of 53 5955 looks pretty similar. The nose cone conversion from maestro for a lansen radar to be added to a percival pembroke?
rossm
Thank you to everyone for the photos and comments. I have now got the reprinted Warpaint with a drawing (yes, I know but it's better than nowt). I don't have a Canberra droptank half to lay over it but a whole one looks a reasonable match for the front portion. Just need a Pat.Lynn nose now (mine's built!).
TOPGUN88
Rossm. Let me know how you get on. I was thinking about using my canberra tanks for a conversion to 200gallon tanks for a mosquito PR.34.
