Wafu Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Hi all, Just a few pictures of my 1/48 Royal Navy Westland Lynx Mk3. Thanks to Colin of Rotorcraft for a great conversion. This build is of a RN Lynx Mk 3 of 702 Squadron, RNAS Portland 1983. 18
Farmerboy Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Nice job on one of my favourite airfix kits, not the easiest build, but you've cracked it!! 1
albamac Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Hi Wafu, You have done justice to a fine helicopter and as they say in Royal Navy parlance it "looks Pusser". I have built the Airfix HMA8 and the AAC Lynx but they require a viewing form at least 3 feet ha ha. Is the yellow and red thingy attached to the starboard sponson a piece of sonar kit? Also, where did you get the folded blades supports from as my next helo. build will include folded blades?? Best wishes from a fellow Rotorhead and mere apprentice. albamac 1
Wafu Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 Is the yellow and red thingy attached to the starboard sponson a piece of sonar kit? Yes, it was/is known as the MAD (Magnetic Anomoly Detector) used as part of the ASW kit on Frigates in the early 80's. Also, where did you get the folded blades supports from as my next helo. build will include folded blades?? Airfix supply the blade fold in both of the kits RN and Brown jobs, they've even added the blade cuff inserts in the moulding of the folded blades. Rotor craft give you a great jig to replace the BERP blades with the standard 'steel' blade.
