Revell 1/72 Avro Shackleton AEW.2 (Shackleton number 3)

Instrument detail dose not look to bad (decal I presume?) I would build the one your on so you know what to look out for when you build the second but its what you think is best.

just noticed I've not actually posted anything here for a little even though I've been working on the kit, fuselage is now together and just working on the windows and masking.

I also went out and did some shopping, I came home with this nice looking kit, but that is for a different WIP

Nice build there.

My Revell Shack has suffered some slight sinkage, mostly on the top fuselage halves near the lining up pins, and along the flap hinge line on the upper wing halves, has yours got this at all?

Builds up really nice and crisply though.

BTW it looks like (& forgive me if I'm wrong) that you may have masked up the very rear stbd window, just ahead of the tailplane, this doesn't exist on the MR/AEW.2 and should be painted over in the fuselage colour.

Little further on here.

Canopy on and masked, and wings dry fitted at the moment, so it is looking good

And it was all going so well. I was sitting back comfortably with my popcorn, admiring the way you are putting together the Shavkleton, thinking there is no way on the planet that I'd be able to do it justice and contenting myself that I had just saved myself a huge wad (postage to Hong Kong for the Shack kit is eyewatering), and then you had to do it! Not only did you go and buy the F-8, you took a picture too! So now I've got to have one. And I'll probably get the Shackleton too! And this thread had started out so promisingly!

In all seriousness, really great work so far. But can you hurry up and start the Meatbox?

Excellent line-up! Which kits are those? Did you choose schemes that came with the kits or used aftermarket decals?

Cheers

Looking wonderful, as soon as I've finished the horrible Revell Tonka I'm building I'm starting my Revell Shack too, I'll be interested to see the aerial arrangement you put on the roof.

Cheers

Something has struck me as odd as it did when I first saw this kit built up in the case at Telford last year. I have never seen a picture of an AEW Shack with those horizontal yellow dashes on the fuselage side just in front of "Force". The two normal size vertical yellow Rescue arrows should be there but those horizontal yellow lines, what are they?

There should be one just ahead of the crew door, being a standard yellow rescue arrow (the pointy end of which is on the door), the other is yellow script on the crew door itself, just above the chrome door handle.

The thing that struck me as odd with the test builds was that the large UHF aerials were present, but they don't appear in the kit - accidentally deleted or scratch built?

Fantastic result there thepureness!

nearly all the decals are now on, just a few more smaller decals. I had some spare propeller tip decals from one of the airfix shacks so used them on this one, not a 100% perfect fit, but they look good enough for me.
