CplPunishment
After nearly 2 years in build, I'm calling it done. Here's a couple of photos. Base kit was the Airfix Mk XIX but with grafted-on Seafire Mk46 wings. Build/conversion can be found here - Work In Progress. There's also a copy of the write-up published on my website - Vexillum Militaris It's not quite what I was hoping for. Lots of room to improve (there always is!). Paul. Supermarine Spitfire Type 356, Spitfire F Mk 21 of 600 Squadron (County of London) RAuxAF, Biggin Hill, 1947. Almost 100% Airfix. (If only they'd produce and decent Mk XIV/XVIII). [Ed: Ha! Which they now do! Released in 2019... https://www.scalemates.com/kits/airfix-a05135-supermarine-spitfire-fr-mkxiv--1168098] Edited December 3, 2020 by CplPunishment 61

Troy Smith
that's come out really well Paul I really like the use of the background in the photos, the first black and white shot looks, well, like a period photo. as for the time... good things come to those who wait cheers T
CplPunishment
Thanks Troy. I'm not that happy with it in places, especially the undercarriage geometry. Needed more work. There's not enough sideways splay, not enough camber on the wheels and too much forwards rake. But it's done.
Spitfire31
Hm. I honestly thought the first couple of photos were reference pics. Then I realised they were the model… Superb modelling, and photography! Very inspiring work. Kind regards, Joachim

CplPunishment
Thanks for all the positive comments. The black and whites are meant more as a test. Since most of my reference material is of operational airframes in their moment in black and white, I try to get my model to resemble the same blotchy and warn appearance. Taking the black and whites affords some level of comparison.Cheers, Paul. Edited April 5, 2016 by CplPunishment

cngaero
That is stunning. It's got the lot, it's beautifully built and painted, it's thoughtfully weathered and perfectly displayed, so much so that at first, I thought they were photographs of the real thing. Those photographs are a real inspiration. Thank you for showing them.
