sean
Recently there was a thread about an old British film called High Flight, which had copious amounts of footage of early jets. A couple of scenes had Vampires and QL refuellers, and I decided I'd do a small dio with both in it. Unfortunately the Vampire did not come out as expected as I made a right hash of it: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234995953-airfix-vampire-t11not-one-for-the-purist/ and although it looks ok'ish, it didn't really fit the scene I had originally intended. Nevertheless, I continued on with the refueller. Thinking it looked kind of devoid of any details, I decided to add some bits and pieces to it, just to see if I could. I think it came out alright, and as I have another two in the stash, as a practice piece, I'm fairly happy with it. As usual, once I've seen the photos, I realise that perhaps I should take photos during the build! I added windows from acetate packaging, and raided the spares box for a spare wheel and holder, and hoses from some sort of wiring. The mirrors were made from Mig 17 cannon barrels and some scrap sprue sanded to shape. The bucket came from a railway shed set I'd bought years ago, and I've finally found a use for it. While not 100% accurate, it has been nice doing something different than just building straight from the box. As there's no proper Vampire to go with it, here's something else. Thanks for your interest, Sean
