Buddyboy12
This was my first build a 1/72 Hawker Hurricane Mk1. Im really pleased with the way it turned out, learnt a lot of lessons some good some bad but i think i have definitely caught the bug. Really looking forward to my next build which is another hurricane but this time the Airfix 1/24. Build Thread - http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234996772-my-first-build-airfix-hurricane-mk1-172/ Sorry the pics are not great only got my phone camera and a couple of sheets of A4! SoftScience
First build? That looks light years ahead of my first build! You have a bright future ahead of you as a modeler. It looks very neat and tidy, which I think is key in 1/72. I might change out the antenna line for something finer, when the opportunity comes. Otherwise, it looks quite fantastic. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!

FatFlyHalf
Your FIRST build? Okay. I resign, give up, yield, and will take an extended rest from modelling. I'm mightily impressed.
Dazey
Andy, That is a very nice finish. Do you mind me asking whether you sprayed or brushed the paint finish? Regards, David

Mattlow
Excellent work. Having just finished one of these I can appreciate the good finish you've achieved. Particularly good finish on the canopy/windshield framing (I'll see if you used a mask or have steady hands.. Matt

Buddyboy12
Thanks everyone for your kind words! Believe me nobody is as surprised as me that it came out how it did! I just used black cotton for the antenna line, What do you guys use for a more realistic scale? Brilliant - and a possible job option for yourself lol Lets wait and see what Build no 2 looks like! Andy, That is a very nice finish. Do you mind me asking whether you sprayed or brushed the paint finish? Regards, David It was airbrushed using my dad's old Badger single action brush that he used to paint my old remote control cars when I were a lad! Excellent work. Having just finished one of these I can appreciate the good finish you've achieved. Particularly good finish on the canopy/windshield framing (I'll see if you used a mask or have steady hands.. Matt Thanks Matt I used masking tape trimmed with a scalpel for the Canopy. Took me bloody ages to get it right as the tape kept pulling even using a new blade! Brandy
Beautiful job for a first build! Re the aerial wire, for rigging 1:72 aircraft I use 2lb test fishing line. It's about 0.13mm and works nicely. More accurate would be 1 1/5lb test at 0.06mm but you can hardly see it! Ian
