Good to hear you have a plan for the old ticker good luck with it all.

As for the Sherman you have a good eye for colour it looked OK to me but after the touch up it was even better. A standard well past my ability. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Cheers for all the hearty comments chaps.

So Archer Sherman Decals applied to my badly masked and painted efforts,

should of done this from the beginning in all honesty.

A statin varnish applied and some basic weathering, I used Buff oil colours to add rain marks and some dark grime wash.

I'll leave this dry off for a day or too and then a blast of matt varnish.

MV lens added to the headlights and some detail painting started.

The oil-paint streaks are magic Dan, looks like the real deal. The chipping is coming along fine too. Not one of my stronger points, always seem to do too much and too heavy. It's a fine line between a well used and weathered vehicle and a demolition derby refugee.

That's really starting to come together now Dan - it's surprising how much a good coat of paint pulls out all the details. Did you consider a green filter wash instead? A couple of layers might have brought out the green :)

Glad you're feeling better mate - keep us informed ;)

Hi Dan. Glad you've managed to get more done and ....WOW! .....it is looking superb! As Julian said above; the weathering looks like real thing. Brilliant! Well done!

Kind regards,

Stix

its enough to make me give up :hanging: quality modelling at its best, noticed a few streaks on it that just reminded of rubber boot sole scuffs on the paintwork. Salivating stuff.

Your chipping is very subtle Dan and it would be on a new and maintained vehicle..... top stuff. Shamans weren't exactly hammered our rides saw more action in track miles.

Found my Saumur photos Dan one for you since you are in full flow. This one has had some extra armour plates welded on to protect the lower crew by the looks of it, i think a few coded welders would twitch.

Cheers Guys,

Wogga, that's a M4A3 early small hatch above I think, slightly different

to the Tamiya kit I'm building but a cracking photo :)

So, an update, been painting up the .50 cal MG, these were parkerised so had a more of a grey hue. I've tried

to replicate that but the pigments I used on the main gun and barrel have knocked it back to black.

And some pictures in natural light.

I'm happy so far.

Looking better and better Dan. Have you tried sanding a pencil point down and using the graphite on Mg's ? Brush it on with a soft brush and then polish things with a stiff brush. I use this quite often.

Re: being happy so far: You have every reason to be happy with this build :bye:

Thank you chaps, .50 is now done.

Ammo loaded and an Archer decal added, took me the best part of an hour to add the decal,

its a dry rub down and the .50 cal is so fragile, I did make a mess of one decal.

I ended up flat coating the gun and adding graphite from a pencil in the end, I normally do that

but I tried a different approach this time and it didn't work.

More weathering going on, some fuel spills and oil drops on the rear

engine deck. Pioneer tools are getting some paint at the same time.

What a lovely piece of work. The .50 cal is the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned. The weathering is coming along beautifully. I do have a minor concern though and it's those two 'oil stains' running down the left hand side of the upper hull in the photo 4 above this comment. Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but it looks like the stains are defying gravity and not running slightly towards the rear of the tank following the slope of the armour. To be sure, I'd dribble a tiny bit of water onto that area and see how it flows.

Everything else looks perfect to me and something I can only dream of emulating.

Rearguards,
