Dads203
So after the smashing M60 build that I undertook, I have decided to have a go at the old Tamiya M4A3 kit. Its an older moulding from the late 80's but still builds quite well with a few extras. Using the Tasca tracks and suspension units for this one as they are more detailed than the stock items and the rubber band tracks are probably one of the best I have seen. The work so far. The Tasca suspension units are quite time consuming to put together but very well detailed. More later folks. Dan
The_Lancaster
looking good! Those tasca suspension units are pretty good actually, they put together the detail and workability which makes them pop. Is the texturing on the turret part of the kit or have you added it yourself? Its good to see you back at it though Dan! Sam
Red Dragon
Probably no Culin cutter on the M4A3, they arrived well after Normandy. Cheers Phil

Badder
Watching with interest as I have Tamiya's M4A3 105mm waiting in its box.... Mine will be OOB though, so I am eager to see what improvements you make and whether they are worth the cost and effort! Dads203
Thank you chaps for the feedback , The Cullins cutter I wasn't sure about so I'll leave it off on this build, no extra texturing done yet on the turret or hull. Enjoying it so far so stay tuned. Regards Dan

robw_uk
dont suppose the wheels on this kit are the same as the ones on the easy-8 (and if they are do you have a spare 1 or 2 knocking around I could purloin)?

Dads203
Cheers Chaps, So running gear is now done. The Tasca VVSS units are really well detailed and look the part. I have to fill the suspension sponsons with some plastic card and then can close up the hull. Dan

Dads203
Cheers all, I made the sponson covers last night from plastic card, down loaded the template from the Archers decal web site, its designed to fit all the Tamiya 75mm Sherman tanks and I think the 105mm Howitzer version. The templates are already sized correctly so just print them off http://www.archertransfers.com/ASSETS/ShermanFix.pdf And I further refined the extra armour bulge on the cheek of the turret, this is missing off most of the 35th scale kits not just Tamiya. Dads203
Cheers Francis, Been working on the commanders .50 cal as a matter of fact. Probably an expensive bit of kit, made up from the Eduard Brassin .50 cal with the barrel cut off, it was like a banana ! I added a RBM barrel and used the Eduard etch from the tank set for the mount. All that can be soldered is soldered up. Still some mounting pin chains to add and the locking leaver on the mount. Cheers for looking folks Dan

AgentG
Looking good! One tip if I may? Throw a smidge of putty around the outside edge of the pistol port. That was cast into the turret and thus, no visible seam. If I am speaking out of turn, I apologize. G
