Randy Lutz
HI all, Here are a few images of my Tamiya Fairey Swordfish Mk. I from No. 820 Squadron, HMS Ark Royal in the Mediterranean Sea, early 1940. This is an excellent kit that does not much in the way of modifications, so I only performed the absolute minimum. Fuselage - Eduard photo-etched seatbelts added - photo-etched gunsight added to Lewis gun - both gun barrels drilled out - antenna wire made from stretched sprue - new tie down ring fabricated - rudder and elevator control cables added Wings - landing lights replaced with MV Products lenses - bomb rack sway braces refined Paint and Decals - airframe painted with Xtracolor X4 Dark Sea Grey BS678, X5 Extra Dark Sea Grey BS640, X25 Dark Slate Grey, X37 Light Slate Grey and X42 FAA Sky Grey - all markings are from T-Stoff Research 48-102, Swordfish - model is weathered with chalk pastels References - Fairey Swordfish in Action No. 175, Squadron/Signal Publications - Scale Aircraft Modeling Volume 6, Number 7 - Scale Aircraft Modeling Volume 13, Number 4 - Scale Aircraft Modeling Volume 13, Number 10 - Swordfish Special by W.A. Pauly Block
A really nice Stringbag there - a type that we probably don't see quite enough of considering that there are some quality kits out there in different scales.
