Selwyn
I am building a 1/72 Draken (the Hasegawa/ Revell kit) depicted c:1980 when visiting RAF Gutersloh when I was based there. Has anyone got any definitive information on the correct location and design of the outer wing pylons of the Danish Draken? Pictures on the net are at best a bit indistinct on this. there also appears to be what looks to be some additional wing fences fitted on the underside of the outer wing pylons as well in the pictures I have seen. Also can anybody give me an idea of the typical warload of a Draken at the same time period? Many thanks, Selwyn
Julien
The pylons are in our walkaround http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/78658-saab-draken/

Jens
I think I have some pictures of what you are looking for. As for the typical load don't use the Draken in the walk-around section as a reference. Even the Sidewinder launcher is incorrect for a Danish Draken. While I look for my pictures you might want to check out these two links:http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/45336-building-the-hasegawa-draken/?hl=%2Bdraken+%2Bbuild http://www.amarc.dk/index.php/gallery-mainmenu-31/27-jet-aircraft-pictures Jens

Finn
Don't know how accurate these drawings are but it should give you an idea on location of the pylons: http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints-depot/modernplanes/saab-ab/saab-j-35-draken-5.png Jari

On the aircraft that used to visit Leuchars from '80 onwards, there was a fourth smaller pylon outboard between the second and third underwing fences. It appeared to be integrated with a PWR similar to the ones that were fitted to the wing tips of the F-100's towards the end of their service lives. Selwyn
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more detail shots. Bjarne Great shots! Do we know what mark of sidewinder was used by the Drakens? don't always trust museum shots on this. Selwyn
ya-gabor
Hi Bjarne, Excellent photos and a lot of help with the Danish Draken. I am still collecting info for a future build of the 72ns scale Hase. Collected some resin detail parts, ejection seats and so on. But still missing some info on the tail section, will have to scratch it. The Danish airframes had the dispensers and also the tail hook. Any good full side view, rear view and photos from the underside would be welcome. The plan is to do that extra weathered Danish airframe that I have seen several photos of. I dont like heavy weathering but that one looked magnificent!!! When the Austrian Drakens visited Hungary I took some views of this areas but they had a different version from the Danish, while the one at Kecel museum is a Swedish version without these modifications. ( Thanks in advance for help. Best regards Gabor
Phantom726
Selwyn, I'll let Jens comment on the Sidewinder type. However, I think it's either B or P. Gabor, More shots inbound.

Selwyn
It looks like a G to me. HTH, Andre I know that the aircraft in the pictures has got a D/G sidewinder on it, but is this the model of sidewinder used operationally? Museum aircraft can have anything put on them for display. ya-gabor
Hi Bjarne, Thanks for the photos you have posted. They are excellent and a lot of help! I am working on a 72ns Su-27 at the moment but seriously considering bringing the Draken project forward after this. Best regards Gabor
