Hi, can anyone point me in the right direction to a good source of information about how to resin?. Just bought a nice cockpit set and nozzles for my 1.32 Eurofighter and I've never used resin in my life!. But the kit parts were lacking, especially the nozzles...

Hi,

do a search on youtube, there's plenty of tutorials.

A couple of pointers:

- do not inhale the resin dust particles, use wet sanding or coarser grit files so you have bigger resin particles instead of dust, and wear a simple painters mask if possible

- use a saw instead of knife (do not use nippers) to remove the parts from pour stubs because the parts could easily break at wrong places

- use CA or 2 part epoxy glues, regular plastic glues won't work

- small molding flaws or pinholes can be filled with CA glue + filler (talc, microbaloons) and easily sanded

- before painting, degrease the parts with some soap or dishwasher detergent

- always prime the parts first, regular model paint doesn't stick well to resin without primer

Hi Stu,

unless you had previous lung health issues, I wouldn't lose too much sleep over one resin kit.

It is the prolonged exposure to ultra small inert dust particles that can be dangerous.

Then it might be a good idea to book an appointment with your GP...
