Nigel Bunker
I notice that this is listed by Heller in their new list as due for release second quarter 2016. Interesting they say 707 and not E-3. Doubtless the more internet savvy amongst you will dig out more information.
Jessica
It's definitely not new, but eagerly anticipated by Civil aviation fans the world over. It was last released in 1999 so it's long past due. It's by far the best 707 kit available

Very hard to find and an odd scale but is very well moulded and detailed. Comes in an AWACS boxing but can be built as a 707. cheers, Joe

pommie commie
Hi all Jennings once told me the Heller's nose looks a bit off, and Nitto the best 707. Staggering we can get a single float Ar196a in 1/32, but no decent 707 in 1/144! (Yes I know about Kurt's, but I could do with at least 10 kits) Cheers Paul
Jessica
Again, that's why I said "best available", not "best ever".
DrewP
My god I had no idea the Nitto kit was going for so much! I assume the Doyusha is the exact same kit, just boxed by different companies. I snagged a Lufthansa Cargo/Luftwaffe a while back and it's in near perfect condition. I would sell it right away, but the good reviews about it and it's availability dropping every day, I think I'm one lucky SOB.
David H
The Heller 707-320 series is a very nice kit. Its engines are a bit lacking in detail (especially with today's technology) but keep in mind the kit dates back to roughly 1985-86. It's much more accurate overall than the Lockheed Constellation that predated it by a couple of years. I'd say the biggest knock against it is its size; once assembled it becomes ponderous and awkward to handle. Its engineering doesn't easily lend it to joining wing to fuselage late in construction. Brad Shinn did a beautiful Pan Am 707-320 a few years back from the kit. Best 707 model i ever saw. There are allegations that the cockpit is 2 mm too high, but i fail to see the sense in lopping it off and reattaching it with all the filling and sanding that comes along with that, especially on a bare metal finish. david Edited February 4, 2016 by David H

Scott Hemsley
To emphasize David's comment about the size of Heller's 707, years ago I did a CC-137 and put it on a plain wood base with some of the squadron patches associated with the aircraft. The base was 3/4" pine, 28" x 28" and as can be seen in the photo, it's not much bigger than the aircraft This one will need some serious display space. Radleigh
With Heller in trouble, will this effect this being released? I hope not...
David H
I hope not too. Nice CC-137. One of the former Western Airlines Birds!! -d-

Does it just "look a bit off" or, is it really "a bit off"? On what is this opinion based? Exactly how much does "a bit off" equate to? In any case, can anyone tell just by looking at it that it is a "bit off"? If not, why bother? I presume that the rest of the model from the nose back is a "bit on"? This is a long overdue re issue. I would imagine most modellers interested in the 707 will be not too bothered if the nose is "a bit off" and quite happily accept what is actually a pretty decent model. Not really an airliner fan but, I would buy this kit without hesitation. Would look GORGEOUS in RAE "Raspberry Ripple" colours!
