P1040 scratchbuilt from old Airfix Sea Hawk

P1052 Maintrack vacform

P1081 Heritage resin

P1067 Prototype Hunter converted from PJ Models F6

Hunter F6 Revell

All 1/72

All involved something of a struggle apart from the Revell kit and the first three have all appeared in the RFI section.

This collection should have appeared a while ago when I finished the P1052 but I was not happy with some aspects of the P1081, particularly the fit of the canopy, so I decided to 'tweak it' - not my best idea as it ended up having to strip it down, repaint and reassemble with a new u/c and I am still not happy with it!

I hope this collection is of interest. I have wanted it for years.

John

Someone wanted more pictures so I have put them here. I did say the some appeared in the RFI section but when I looked they did not turn up (Britmodeller search function is rubbish so used Google instead) so here they are

Of interest? Understatement of the year!

I really like collections, as exemplified here, that show the evolutionary passage from one end member to another.

Thats a fantastic collection to be proud of.

Are they 1/72?

Yes. should have mentioned it in the main post (now amended) but I was assuming that everyone knew that the Revell and Maintrack kits were 1/72

Tomoshenko 'Very nice collection indeed. My favourites are the Hunters, but I am a bit biased. How about some more piccies...'

My Hunter doesn't compare with yours and I was going to say that there are lots more piccies in the RFI section but they seem to have disappeared so I have put a few more in the main post

Lovely collection, and as others have said it's fascinating to see the progression.

When I was a kid, Maintrack Models was my local model shop. I used to go in and see all Peter's prototype kits, and had no idea what they were. Now I know a bit more, you can't get the kits for love nor money!

A fabulous collection John, I like that very much!! Always liked prototypes especially those of the late war/post war period up to the mid sixties, just something beautiful and nostalgic about them?

Love that pale green colour!! :coolio: :coolio:

It might amuse/interest you to know that the P1052 was a Xmas present from my daughter when she was in her teens. She is now 42! It sat in the stash for years until I had enough guts to face up to doing a vacform. I wish I had started it before catching AMS. I have several others waiting their turn.

You can still get the kits - not for love but lots of money.

cngaero - what are you wanting to see? My early jet collections are here if that's what you are after

That's fantastic, John. As I think you and I have discussed a wee bit, that's something I'd love to do (or a similar version) in 1/48, along with the parallel Supermarine evolution. (As it happens, I'm working on an early jet now.)

That's cool- I hope she's aware of the completion, and I'm curious what her reaction was?
