Sgt.Squarehead
This is starting to look like it has some real potential, but we need more suggestions for naval subjects.....Did E-Boats see any postwar use?
Brad
This is starting to look like it has some real potential, but we need more suggestions for naval subjects.....Did E-Boats see any postwar use? The Spanish used several until the 50's-60's, Norway and Denmark plus a couple of modified boats that the British used for Operation Jungle. There were also several Regia Marina warships allocated as war prizes and used, but I'm not sure if any models are available of them. This is a big subject and I'd say most people don't realise just how big until they start looking. I've been interested in this kinda stuff for years and just looking into it for the topic and posts being made, I've learned a few things!
Basilisk
Great topic for a GB - so much to choose from. I love to participate, but it will be hard to decide what to build. It's worth a look at the Bucker Bestman which as widely used postwar even well into the 1950s in Egypt as the Gomhouria. Actually until the late eighties! I have seen them at the Air Force Academy in use in 1988. Cheers, Peter
trickyrich
This is a really interesting idea for a GB, so count me in for sure. As to what to build, hmmm am thinking maybe Avia S-199 in Israeli colours.........for some reason I have heaps of decals for Israeli aircraft! RAAF's Dornier 24's but they were withdrawn for service in 44, so really don't count. Oh and to add to the list of aircraft, the Heinkel He-274, the only two prototypes that were built (or partially built by wars end) were finished off and used by the French Sud-Quest as "motherships" for their research aircraft til the early 50's.

Brad
All good ones SAU, but I'm not sure on the Re 2000's. Did they make it to post war service? I know they were pretty well shagged and I thought they were withdrawn before hostilities ceased.

I know they were pretty well shagged and I thought they were withdrawn before hostilities ceased. You're right there. The RE2000's @ F10 were all written off 1945-07-20, so post WW2 in Europe but not post-1945. The poor guys at F10, Bulltofta Malmö were first promised P-47's ordered in 1944, changed to P-51D which went to F16, Uppsala and what they got was hand-me-down FFVS J 22's... Also the Fiat CR.42, the last ones were sold in april-may 1945 to the civilian contractor Svensk Flygtjänst AB as target tug were they stayed in service till 1949

Arniec
For French decals you should look for Berna decals. There are also some decals for a Turkish 190 from tigerhead decals. I have never seen any decals for a Czech version, but if you google you could propably find some?! Cheers,
Brad
FW-190, Used by France, Czechoslovakia and Turkey post war...Hmmm. Anyone know of a good decal set for this? Tigerhead decals for the Turkish 190's. I think the Czech's had at best a couple of 190's, the only profile I've seen had just generic markings. I've never seen a picture.
