I thought this might appear given that the early F1 canopy was already on the clear runners and the wingtips were there. Given that my resin F1 has suffered multiple u/c collapses, this is definitely on the list.

Wings seem to be same as in previous releases, i.e. slightly off. But overall its the second good Vampire kit following the ultimate Airfix's T.11.

So good news MPM gives us Mk.1!

What is slightly off with the wings ?

What is slightly off with the wings ?

Wider chord leading to strange looking intakes and main undercarriage too forward.

Reference to a great kit review in Russian:

http://scalemodels.ru/articles/9111-Xtrakit-MPM-1-72-D-H--100-Vampire-FB-Mk-5-RAF-Service.html

Also drawing clearly showing what's wrong with MPM wing:

Not a really great error though - main effect is the strange intake as already noted elsewhere

I believe that the corrected intakes were also included with the F.3 kit and looking at those sprue photos these (as well as the longer FB.9 intake) are also included with this version. To me, this looks like a great box of bits and will hopefully grab one soon after release.

Cheers. Dave

Did SH made a new wing? That is interesting. Anyway mk.1 is definitely on my radar.

Separate wing tips

CMK are selling a pair of Mosquito style early drop tanks for this kit although I expect they will serve equally for the CMR resin kit, later versions of which only have the pylon mounted tanks included.

Glad to see that it is  on it's way. I am waiting the RAF version for which the box art looks promising.

You might end up waiting some time, Special Hobby seem to take their time between releases - look at their excellent 1/72nd Mirage F.1, still not released as the classic F.1C in French markings yet!

Personally, I'll be cobbling together some RAF markings of my own, I've always liked the MSG/PRU Blue colour scheme.

I must say though, the Swedish scheme looks tempting.

Will the RAF version include the bubble canopy? Seems there is a "framed" version as well...

I wonder if they will eventually make a sea vampire mk 10?:fingerscrossed:

The early framed canopy is on the clear runner as well as the bubble canopy in my Mk3 and 5 kits and so I think you will get both. A lot of Mk1's had the bubble canopy. I have a vague memory it came in after about the first 50 or so airframes, but I could be wrong.

I recall seeing images of this kit with decals for the RAAF evaluation aircraft A78-1, but I can’t remember where. Does anyone know if this is an option included with the RAF boxing of this SH model?

Cheers. Dave
