CliffB
Just completed after the best part of a year and two Group Builds (Sea King STGB and KUTA VIII), is this S-61L. The fuselage comes from a 1997 Aircraft in Miniature vacform conversion kit (which also include a white metal undercarriage & tailplane, and a decal sheet). The cockpit and rotors come from the old Airfix Sea King. I've also added some other extras: glazing to the passenger cabin (the kit includes window decals) Whirleybird metal passenger seats Airwaves PE details Archers rivet decal (the vacform fuselage is totally smooth). Thanks for looking. Cliff

MikeW
She's a beaut. After NY Airways, Pan Am operated a helicopter service between JFK and Manhattan for a time. ( Free for their first class passengers ) I wanted to do this so badly I actually went to NY twice, just for this, and on both occasions we were delayed out of LAX, arriving JFK after dark, and the service just ran in daylight. Grrrrrr. Cheers, Mike

abat
That's really nice. The riveting would have been fun and is totally worth the effort.
CliffB
Cheers guys Vince, they actually operated the somewhat smaller, Chinook predecessor - the Boeing Vertol 107 (I had to check though!) Cliff

Gimme Shelter
superb - I am a great fan of the S-61 series. If you fancy another dabble at the same, I heartily recommend the Whirly Bird conversions range. They cover most of the S61 series based on either the Fujimi or Revel Sea King host kit. Your finished kit really is superb and very unique In true Blue Peter style, here's one I built earlier ...
CliffB
Hey that's a great little vignette - takes me back to Tresco! I bought my bits back in the last millenium to make a Scilly aircraft, but never got round to it. Back then AiM/Airfix was the only way to go. Thanks for posting.
