Hunter Rose
Update time! Actually got some shed time and am starting to really get my mojo back which feels seriously good! Started by tidying up the blue tentacles around his left foot now that all the under colours are done, and also the large one going up to his hip (though the paints wet so its a little shiny and hard to see!) 20181017_134056 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181017_134117 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Started getting the dark brown detail onto his other leg too, along with his foot, so still an unpainted tentacle for now. 20181018_134811 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I decided to do his belt in brown too so I gave that a splash of paint 20181018_134822 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I realised I still needed to paint the outer frame of the pipe detail on his gun arm so did that too 20181018_134833 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then carried on with the brown paint on the thigh detail 20181019_134424 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Also got the arm joints done in the brown too to match with the knees, which I also got the orange onto as well as the hand bit 20181019_134439 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181019_134456 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then once the right foot paint was dry enough I got the remaining tentacle painted painted blue, so there is officially no primer gray left on him! 20181019_135201 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181019_135201 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181019_135213 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So thats where hes at for now, next I'll get the hand detail painted on him and tidy up some of what I did today where necessary. Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Time for another update. Hada little shed time so I managed to get a bit more painting done I started by giving the trim of his boots gunmetal grey 20181023_134307 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181023_134318 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I also painted the bit I missed on the top of his inner thigh brown, so thats all done now! 20181023_134329 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Got brown rim of the armor plate painted on his left hand 20181023_134329 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And painted his other hand just so its done [20181024_132048 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I know I've been doing a lot on the figure, but I do want to get the base sorted, so I finally got round to getting going on the large flower thats going to sit underneath him 20181024_133112 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181024_133117 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I know it looks really rough underneath, but you wont see the underside, which is also why it has none of the vein detail on it. Also I gave the inner bits a good coat of the red 20181025_133027 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And the last thing I did was to give the rim of his forearm armor a brown paintjob too 20181024_134050 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181024_134031 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Which I really like, ties all the brown together nicely and the armor is looking good, only other thing I think I'll do with paint colours is to give the little boxes on his flanks where the wires come out a coat of the dark red. Next up I'll get the flower glued in place and start detailing it and the rest of the base. Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Thanks Pete! Got a bit more done on the base, I started by painting the inside of the shot flower red as thats supposed to be the insides you can see 20181029_134122 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then it was time to glue the big flower in place, but before I did this I wanted to make sure it had good contact giving a strong bond. So I wanted to use greenstuff to mold into the base so it would create a solid base. Greenstuff is very sticky of course so I laid down a polythene sandwhich bag first then squidged some greenstuff on the bottom 20181101_133305 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181101_133400 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then pushed it down onto the base to get a mould of its position pressed into it 20181101_133831 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then when it dried I painted it blue and then used some ca glue to get it in place 20181101_133945 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181102_130913 by Nick Frost, on Flickr 20181105_134955 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Feel glad now thats in place, at least its in one piece now! I also made a start on using some pigments on the growths and roots in a small area to get a feel for it 20181106_134333 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So next up I'll continue with the pigments and make some tentacles for the inner part of the open flower. I've been clearing a relatives house which I'm now getting ready to sell so that has been stressing me out and sucking up all my time the last couple of months, but I'm trying to get to the bench when I can. I have been expanding the area where I've started the pigment work IMG_20181210_132946 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I have started to detail the flower buds with a darker blue around veins and edges IMG_20181210_133335 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20181210_133355 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Also I've started a bit of initial painting of the open flower petals by brushing over a pinky red over the inner petals/mouth parts IMG_20181210_134109 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20181210_134121 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I have bought a mdf circle to use as the final base which I've primed and painted IMG_20181210_132931 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So soon I will do the VERY daunting task of getting it onto its final base just so its on there (so not looking forward to that, definitely need to be very careful!!) Next up I'll finish the pigment work all over the base and put some more paint on the flowers before making a start on the tentacles for the open one. Pete in Lincs
And welcome back, nice to see this one is still going. Nice detail painting going on, hopefully it will de-stress you. I know that's what modelling does for me. BTW, I had a thought, will there be slime/goo?

Yes slime is the plan, and just to keep with the retro bright contrasting sci-fi colours, I'm actually going to use clear purple slime. And hell yeah drippy goo on his feet sounds like a great idea Sentry! I have been adding more pigments, after my next session I'll be sure to post an update, as always cheers for taking an interest guys!
Hunter Rose
Woohoo! First update of 2019! I have been getting back in the shed and really enjoying this build again, not that I ever hated it but think I had a bit of burnout (just a bit!) So I did some more pigment work around the base, shading and colouring the tentacles and yellow growths IMG_20190107_133836 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190107_133914 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I finally got a new airbrush after my last one seized up, so I mixed up a dasrk blue and sprayed the edges of the flower buds and some of the tenmtacdles at random, then after that dried mixed up some purple and did the same thing (but kept the purple for the tentacles only) IMG_20190114_134511 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190114_134521 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190114_134544 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190114_134555 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190115_133520 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190115_133532 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190115_133549 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190115_134111 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190116_132154 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Oh and also I had a bit of a crack to repair, the tip of the large tentacle came off, so I epoxy glued it back in place and filled it with some squadsron IMG_20190115_132709 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190116_132556 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And also I rolled out some greenstuff for the tentacles in the middle of the large open flower, when its dry I'll paint them and get them in position. IMG_20190116_133502 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So overall pretty happy with that bit of work, the colours I added to the base with the airbrush are a bit more blatant than they show in the photos, and I'm glad i took the decision to not just rely on the pigments for shading and variation. Next up I'll get the tentacles painted and put in place, and sand down the bit of filler on the crack and paint over that too Thanks for looking, more soon
