Hunter Rose
Okay so I managed to get the wrist computer light sorted! Started by blocking out the sides of it with some aluminium tape and just to be on the safe side I mixed some black paint with some gel medium to seal the edges where the foil meets the top IMG_20190309_141605 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then with no choice but to show off my AMAZING soldering skills I soldered some wire onto my led after threading it through the hole in the side IMG_20190319_132813 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Just realised this pic was the first time I did it, you can see that I left the legs a bit long which was pushing it more over to one side which gave really uneven light when I tried it. So I used the soldering iron to remove it and cut the legs down before soldering it back on which allowed it to sit in the middle for even light distribution. Then got it back in place and I gave it a test and let there be light! IMG_20190319_133726 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190319_134141 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Apologies for the crazy photo, that was me holding each wire on the battery and simultaneously taking a pic! Was really good seeing it lit up, I've backed out of lighting on so many projects was nice to see it coming together, even if my elctrical skills leave much to be desired! Next up I'll get it glued in and then use greenstuff to fill around it and create a raised border around it Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Right update time! I want all the wiring to be external in spring tubes, that was always the plan, as I like the idea of lots of cables that while massively impractical in reality, look good on the model! I was going to use some 3mm spring tube but couldn't quite fit it in and I didn't want to force it so instead I used two bits of smaller tube (1.5mm i think), which I actually think looks better rather than i thick bit. IMG_20190403_131836 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I'll create an attach point on the upper arm once I start sorting the backpack out Then I used some greenstuff to create a lip around it which also serves to fill and hide the gap where the computer fits in, which I painted in the darker brown I've been using. IMG_20190404_134053 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190404_134758 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190404_134810 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190405_134246 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190405_134306 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Next up I'm going to shade his suit with some pigments and then I'll start getting his gun sorted. Hunter Rose
Okay, time for an update! I noticed that the is a fairly large gap about two thirds of the way round where the tentacles meet the wooden base, IMG_20190410_132452 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So I rolled some more greenstuff for extra tentacles shapes to fill the gap discreetly IMG_20190410_133218 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190410_134406 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And when thats dry I'll paint it the same blue to blend it in. For now I also made a start brushing some pigments over the edges and seam lines of his armor using graveyard dirt, which is my favourite mig pigment; it can be a very simple way to add some very effective shadowing/dirt to make your finish pop a little more. It can be a little more subtle in photos than it appears in reality so the first pic is before I've added it just to show a comparison with the subsequent photos where I've brushed it over IMG_20190411_134100 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190411_134323 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190411_133043 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190411_133719 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190411_134030 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Basically Im using the pigment to add post shading, and I'mm pretty pleased with how hes looking, its giving more life to the originally pretty flat paint job. Next up I'll continue with that, and start getting some bits together for his laser. Thanks for looking, more soon
Will Vale
I like the shaded edges, that's cool. Will you be adding any chipping or dry-brushing to pick out the shapes further, or is he going to be pretty clean? Will

Yes I am but keeping it very light on the chipping, definitely some dry brushing of the darker bits too

Hunter Rose
Yes there is! Thanks for asking I have actually got back into the groove finally, been crazy busy with a house move and after a lot of diy and garden projects my stress levels have now settled to a point where I feel like my modelling mojo is coming back. I've decided to put my other two projects on hold till this is done, its funny I thought they would ease my mind back into it but in the end they made it worse! So for now I'm on this till its done and I want that to happen sooner rather than later so time to crack on. Now the wrist computer is done I just added the shading to that arm with the graveyard dirt pigments as on his legs. IMG_20190903_133718 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190903_133650 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then after looking at the base I decided to add some more purple slime like the stuff in the centre of the flowers, want to increase the psychedelic sci fi look as much as I can, and a dd a little more detail. So I mixed up some gloss medium with a bit of tamiya purple IMG_20190903_133944 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then I blobbed it on here and there, focusing on the tentacles reaching up, as if they have broken through a slime layer, and on the soles of his boots IMG_20190903_134654 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190903_134828 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190903_135024 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190903_135255 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Looks darker and glossier when its dry, think there was a little too much paint in the mix as its not quite as translucent as I wanted, but that's cool I'll add more on top with hardly any paint to add to the slime look and help blend it in. IMG_20190904_133210 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190904_133224 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190904_133246 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190904_133301 by Nick Frost, on Flickr The thing I am most happy about is getting his gun sorted, in all honesty the though pf scratchbuilding it entirely really daunted me as I wasn't confident I'd make something that looked good! But thankfully I found a gundam machine gun that fits the bill perfectly! I'm just going to cut the original handle and guard off and add a chunkier one to help scale it up from a machine gun to a pistol. IMG_20190903_132707 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190904_140635 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190904_134222 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I'll also have to drill out the middle and slot a bit of brass in that will hold my led and the saber beam that will act as the laser holder and cut out light leakage. Oh and also the shading on the entire lower body is now done, just realised I hadn't actually shown a pic, so here is how hes looking from the waist down. IMG_20190904_134346 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So thats where he's is at the minute, I have also measured his back section so I can start planning out his backpack too, I'm planning on getting the gun sorted so I can get his hand on him, and then it will be helmet then backpack scratching. So next up its more work on the laser. Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Another little update, did another round of slime, this time with much less paint in the medium to help with the glossy slime look, which I applied pretty liberally! IMG_20190905_133824 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190905_135254 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Think it looks better now, seems a lot glossier too which is good IMG_20190906_135204 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190906_135222 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190906_135259 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I have now drilled the gun out to accept the wires, skewered it on some brass tube just to show its done. I was going to use tubing to hold the wires but there just isn't enough room. IMG_20190909_134416 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I have decided against a knuckle guard, I'm going to have some sort of boxy detail sticking out of the gap in the stock (still thinking about that) and I'm going to sculpt a handle out of green stuff directly into his hand which it can then be glued on top of. I just want it to be as easy as possible to be able to accurately line up the gun and the laser beam with the hole in the plant. Also I have now just finished the shading around all the edges with graveyard dirt pigment IMG_20190916_134058 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190916_134116 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190916_134126 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190916_134139 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Think next I'll add a bit of light chipping here and there and I'll get the handle of the gun sculpted, I want his hand on asap as it will make me feel like I'm getting somewhere! Hunter Rose
Just a little update this afternoon, I have made more progress with his gun Used a trusty 1/48 scale ammo box to fill the gap on the stock and add another detail, wedged it in with a thin piece of styrene pic1 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then gave it a spray with some black gloss, before laying down some alclad airframe aluminium for the metal bits. pic2 by Nick Frost, on Flickr pic3 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And its now all masked up ready to painted in a dark green colour pic4 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Was hoping to spray the paint today but ran out of time on my lunch break (bloody work getting in the way of my modelling!) So next up I'll get the rest sprayed and make a start on sculpting the gun handle for it to sit on in the guys hand. Thanks for looking, more soon
