Hunter Rose
Cheers Brian! For now the green is just the unpainted greenstuff but I will be painting it a similar green, for now heres a small update. He's on his final base at last!! Drilled couple of big holes to easily accommodate the bolts and allow for wiggle room IMG_20190123_132702 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then mixed up and smeared a load of thick epoxy glue all over it IMG_20190123_134429 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And finally VERY carefully in a scene reminiscent of Indiana Jones taking the gold idol from the plinth I got him in place! IMG_20190123_134607 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190123_134623 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190123_134633 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So glad thats done, the big ugly bit of wood I had on there was making spinning him round to paint a bit awkward on the bench, and it looks so much better as well of course Next up, I shall be painting tentacles green and starting on some slime Thanks for looking, more soon
Hunter Rose
Right update time!! I have been working on this I just haven't had time to actually upload photos and write some stuff! Okay so I am going with green for the tentacles, at the minute its just bare greenstuff so I painted that with some green paint for a better finish IMG_20190211_132354 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And then it was slime time, I mixed a small amount of purple tamiya paint with a big blob of some gloss gel medium and blobbed over some bits to see how it would come out IMG_20190211_132812 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190211_132822 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190211_133008 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190211_133013 by Nick Frost, on Flickr When it dried it lost that chalky look as the medium dries clear, and I was really happy with it IMG_20190212_133018 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190212_133026 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So then it was time to do more and use some more on the plant bits now I knew it was okay! IMG_20190212_134002 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190212_134007 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190212_134016 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190212_134221 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190212_134504 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And then when that had dried this is how it looked IMG_20190213_134139 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190213_134146 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190213_134200 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190213_134213 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So then I thought I'd do a bit of green to go between my yellow growths using the same method IMG_20190213_134605 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190213_135008 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190213_135015 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Which looked like this when dry IMG_20190214_131740 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And then I also decided to add some gloss varnish here and there on some tentacles to give a bit of variation IMG_20190214_133122 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190214_133135 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190214_133147 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190214_133205 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190215_135030 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190215_135033 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And thats how it looks as of today, pretty pleased with the colourful slimy vibrant look! So I'm saying thats it for the base, so next up its on to the wrist computer to get that sorted! Thanks for looking, more soon

W Never!!!! Cheers Will! Oh and I just realised, I forgot to mention in the last post I was clearing some old stuff out of my parents loft and actually found my copy of spacebase 2000 IMG_20190210_170125 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And flicked straight to the image that inspired this loooooooong sculpting journey! IMG_20190210_170110 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Was really cool looking through it again, first time I've opened it in 20+ years, absolutely love the art and ship designs in here and I can now get it back on my bookshelf 5

Hunter Rose
Its got some really great artwork in it, I think this is the only picture in it that isn't a spaceship! Got a little shed time so just a small update to show a bit of wrist computer work. I got the computer sticker I printed out (aaaaaages ago!) and placed it inside the clear plastic part I'm using for my computer screen. I also printed cut some blanks in the same shame to use as a mask on the outside. IMG_20190221_134145 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then I rattle canned on some grey primer IMG_20190222_133516 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And I decided to give it an olive green finish, thought it would look good like a bit miltary style and also it will tie in nicely with the green of the tentacles on the base IMG_20190223_132813 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Next up when the paints off I'll remove the mask and then drill a hole in it for my wire/led. Thanks for looking, more soon

Hunter Rose
Right small update, I have removed the mask from the visor now the paint is dry IMG_20190225_132715 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And then Like a total smeghead I decided to brush some white paint on the back inside to diffuse the white, aaaaand of course it bled into the edges of the sticker slightly Hey ho not to worry though, I cut a rim for the screen in some dark green vinyl at work to cover it, and am actually quite happy with the look so swings and roundabouts I guess! IMG_20190226_134130 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And here is a shot of it in place just to show how it'll look IMG_20190226_134215 by Nick Frost, on Flickr I have now given it a coat of some gauzy gloss varnish to help seal the decal and to prep the surface for some decals to detail it. Then I'll drill a hole in the side for the wire and slide said wire and led inside before sealing it in place, after which I can use some greenstuff to sculpt an edge to it to hide the hole its sitting in. Hunter Rose
Small update, got a bit more done on the wrist computer today I VERY carefully drilled a hole for the wire with my pin vice IMG_20190308_131733 by Nick Frost, on Flickr And then for the fun bit, got out my big bag of spare water slide decals and fished around for a few interesting ones to go on IMG_20190308_132310 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then I grabbed my micro set/sol and got them on IMG_20190308_134640 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190308_134650 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20190308_134659 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Pretty happy with that, once the micro sol has dried I'll seal them in with another clear coat and then I'll glue some foil on the inside to block any light before sorting out an led and fixing it in place on his arm.
