Many thank,s Stix,the tyres are painted Tamiya German gray,a little light for some folk maybe but being a desert based machine I thought it would

look better.

Thank you Steve. When I saw them I thought it was a good colour match.

Kind regards,

Stix

Evening all,primer has had a day to dry and masked her for the base coat of Tamiya desert yellow tinkered with to match a couple of magazine builds

I,m referencing,now before you read on put down any hot drinks or scalpels in fact anything that could cause injury in a laughing fit.I as some of you

know am restricted to a small fold out picnic table for modelling, when photographing I use a large piece of white card which curves up as a background.

I use a bottle of wine out the rack to keep it vertical,I was just popping the card back under the sofa when I heard a bang from the kitchen ran in to find

the bottle on its side with the neck resting right on top of the Hurricane which has cracked open the top fuselage seam!

I thank Sydney Camm for his superb design that the bottle rested in the elegant curve that sweeps down to the tail if the bottle had rolled onto the tiled

floor...........................................

DSCN0786%20640x480_zpsb88zhxug.jpg

She look,s a bit too yellow due to the light next job will be a bit of pre-shading for the final coat.

Looking good and thank goodness for Sidney Camm`s excellent design work eh! My wife dropped a bottle of wine that she was looking forward to on the floor as she was unloading the shopping from the car a few days ago,.... and she looked like a kid who had been given a huge bag of sweets and then had them flushed down the bog!!!

I`m looking forward to seeing your model in its French scheme as it is one that I want to to reproduce myself using the Airfix kit.

Cheers

Tony

looking very neat. I've got this one to do too ..and now I'll have to get these decals ..

BTW and FWIW Z4757 (on the Berna sheet) was Jean Tulasne's aircraft - from 'Alsace' Tulasne was the first CO of the famous "Normandie" GC III that went off to fight in Russia in Yaks...a real French 'hero'

Thanks Patrice,(who,s Peter)? worry not When I first met the wife I called her my previous girlfriend's name on more than one occasion,not

recommended! Anyway in between some 1/1 painting of the bathroom I am getting a bit done,I have after three shades settled on this shade

for the dark earth and you can see gone a shade darker to show where the original RAF marking's would have been painted out on the tail

and fuselage,I didn't do the upper wing's as the French roundel to me is much larger than an RAF one would have been.I have chipped the

usual areas of wear but have more to do as I progress.Thank's for looking in.

Hi all,not at all happy the bathroom is taking an age thank's to the missus wanting to go from blue to lemon! Anyway over a cuppa I,ve got the

main decal's on and sealed in and I think she's starting to take shape nicely the decals behaved well which was a worry as I saw a recent disaster

with Berna decals here on BM.

Hi all,just a quick update,the undersides have been glossed and a wash added I just need to look up a few photo's to see how these aircraft

look after oil streaking,I have fitted the prop and scuffed(the real aircraft photo's show this) the spinner heavily showing a base coat of

aluminium and less on the prop blades back to a gray primer as I wasn't sure if they were wooden or metal.

Looking the part, and real beautiful!

I ma asking myself the same type of question for my IIc: is the propeller metal or wood?

Ignorance can indeed be a curse...\

Nearly Mk.II's I have seen have a Rotol prop, with AFAIK, Jablo blades, (a compressed wood composite)

It's an area that needs some serious research to really pin down what's what. The above is the best guide to the subject anywhere that I know of.

Hi folk,s,finally after six days off got a decent hour or two at the bench among other things got a lot of the small jobs done on the Hurricane,glazing

painted and fixed only the rudder and wing/landing lights to add after a spray of matt coat which should get done over the weekend,this one's gone

together a dream if I can find another rare scheme I may add a second to the GB,thanks for looking in.

Looks great Steve,........have you anything in mind for a 2nd model, just in case I can help with a rare scheme? What about one of the original Finnish Hurri`s in their civil markings or Finnish markings,....both with RAF style camouflage?

IS01872.JPG

HC-453.jpg

Here is one which crashed en route;

ww2history-hchakumatka04.jpg

OR,.....the only one to serve with the RAAF in Australia,...Mk.I, V7476,...

BB_2A60_1.jpg

It was recamouflaged in Foliage Green with Light Blue undersides and blue/white markings with the serial A60-1 allocated, but not applied;

Hawker_Hurricane_V7476_Laverton_RAAF.jpg

And A60-1 ended up in a silver scheme;

raaf_150.jpg

V7476_15_zps5c439374.jpg

It had highly polished metal panels

Some great Schemes Tony,the silver certainly appeals I was wondering what was out there for a sea Hurricane too seeing as the Airfix kit has the

option in the box.

Remember that you`ll have to make your own pilots head rest and rear fuselage catapult spools for a Sea Hurri Mk.I (a orb ) because Airfix forgot to do these and most probably won`t be adding any if they box a Sea Hurri.

The most colourful ones were the Op Pedestal ones with yellow fin and wing leading edges, here is the last one that I did;

DSCF5442_zps8gw2eayu.jpg

DSCF5435_zpsk2hrs9pd.jpg

and here are the decal options from the Italeri kit;

3016_3-auto_downl.jpg

Which provides a decent coverage of Sea Hurri Mk.Ib schemes.

Good luck mate,

Tony

Hi Troy,

thanks a bunch for the link, This is indeed the best I have ever read on this subject! Had I known about it earlier, it would have saved me a lot of wasted time on the web to try and get the answer i needed.

So no NMF chipping on the prop of my Mk IIc!!!!

Thanks again!

Steve,

your models are really improving. This one is gorgeous, even more so as it is French AND a Hurricane!

Congrats!
