Graham T
Just about to make a start on the nice looking 1/48 ICM kit. I see the instructions call for RAL66 in the cockpit but I seem to recall that 02 is a better option for early war examples of Luftwaffe machines. Just checking before I make a mistake! Anyone confirm? Edited January 19, 2016 by Graham T
Seawinder
I should go with RLM 66, which was adopted as standard on bombers earlier than on fighters. For example, photos of BoB He 111s show cockpits in 66. Here's a link to a photo of an 88 recovered from a Norwegian fjord (and therefore almost certainly a fairly early version): http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/t/113377.aspx (scroll down a ways) The color is clearly 66. Graham Boak
The aircraft in the Bodo Museum is an A-4 lost on 17 April 1942, and thus later in build than an A-5. Which doesn't mean that RLM66 is wrong, just that this wreck isn't proof.
Stonar
The link above is not working for me. The Ju 88 which was/is at Gardermoen, and was recovered from a lake, is an A-1, built in December 1939, first flew in early 1940, and clearly has an RLM 66 interior. Information and pictures here http://www.ju88.net/ Cheers Steve Edited January 19, 2016 by Stonar
