Rabbit Leader
All, Apologies if this is old news or has already been printed elsewhere (Airfix 2016 Yearbook?), however it appears that the decal options for all 2016 releases have now been listed on their web page. Dave. ..the final decision on the He 111 options was only taken a few days ago AFAIK. Rommel's transport was in the frame- but no-one is sure that was an H-6 though- and some KG 100 options were looked at from II./ KG 100's period over North Africa - sand over European greens.... March
The Meteor is certainly tempting Seeing the Meteor options prompted me to order a second. Having worked for a company whose offices were based on the site of the former Gloster factory, I've got something of a soft spot for Gloster aircraft. March
Is that office near the Jet Age Museum? Within a few miles. The Gloster factory and HQ used to be in Brockworth and Hucclecote respectively. Ironically Lockheed Martin have an office on the business park in Hucclecote. decalmaster
The 111H-6 decals are listed in the 2016 Year Book which was available at Telford but they have added a Romanian one so the final decision could have been taken recently. The Sea King HAR.3 is also in the Year Book with just one option listed, XZ596 HRH Prince William RAF Valley 2011. As usual we will be backing up most of the new Airfix kits with one or two Xtradecals, the 1:48 Defiant is already on sale. If any one has a particular favourite they would like to see done please let me know and I will see what can be fitted in. If you have photos of both sides that would be a big help and almost guarantee it being included. The one exception may be the B-17 for which there are so many decals already, we currently list 31 sheets including 18 from Kits World. Rodders154
The sea king anniversary edition would be nice I agree apart from the yellow ones and the Falklands grey there haven't been many others Rodders
Vicarage Vee
It pains me to be picky, I know that there is lots of colour photography of the 91st Bomb Group to work from, but they are SO over represented in kit and aftermarket decals, it would be nice to cover a few of the less well represented ones. They also served....
Col.
Wonder what colour-scheme the 45 Sqn. Beaufighter will wear? Either way I'll be having two Beaux and a trop Hurricane
593jones
Shame there isn't an RAF 100 Group aircraft with the B17, someone did suggest there might be as there is an H2S dome in the kit. Oh well, I'll still be buying one.
MikeR
Nakajima B5N1 "Kate" Livery A: 9-348, 14th Kokutai, 1938-39 Livery B: C1-301, 3rd Kokutai IJN Carrier Zuiho Great news on that first option - I was hoping that Airfix would include a Green/Brown China Theatre aircraft! The second one's silver with a red stripe down the side plus a red tail. As fas as I'm aware, Hasegawa have included both schemes in various boxings of their own 1/72 and 1/48 scale B5N1 kits. Mike. David Hannant Hi David, My great-uncle, Geoffrey Pledger, flew as a gunner with 141 on Defiant's alongside Dennis Williams his pilot and your great team already have one aircraft they flew in on more than one occasion, L.7000, which I used when building the 1/72nd example and I'd dearly love to another decal set to the 1/48 version. I don't think I have any photo's of any of the others they flew in unfortunately (L6999, N1566...) Many kind regards, Matt
Wez
Wonder what colour-scheme the 45 Sqn. Beaufighter will wear? Either way I'll be having two Beaux and a trop Hurricane As Richard in NZ said, the MSG over black scheme. I've seen profiles of aircraft in DG/DSG/PRU Blue but I've yet to see photographic evidence of this scheme - which is a pity as it's my favourite post-War scheme. Shame there isn't an RAF 100 Group aircraft with the B17, someone did suggest there might be as there is an H2S dome in the kit. Oh well, I'll still be buying one. There was definitely an H2S radome in the clear section of the sprue shots, I can only hope it comes in the standard boxing as that's the version I'd want to make. From memory that's a post-1950 scheme, so seems a bit late for the Beaufighter. 45 did have some that appear to still have been in the Temperate Sea Scheme - see just at the end of this video:
