Citroen Type H Fourgon

I've just picked up the new Heller 1:24 kit, and want to do this with it:

type%20h%20porte%20voiture_zpsobhi0zrm.j

I found the image through Google. The conversion process doesn't trouble me, but I'd like to get some idea of how the rest of the vehicle looks, e.g. where the spare tyre was located, how the tray was set up, etc. Google has pictures of other similar trucks, including some of 1:43 models, but there doesn't seem to be any other pictures of this vehicle available. Anyone got any ideas as to where I might go looking?

A logical place for the one in your photo would be to have been mounted on the cab bulkhead. If you can track down the 'Department' from the registration and then the garage and search via that - a long shot I realise. Good luck with tracking down more info/images on this one.

Here are some other sites which may be useful for the build.

Thanks for that - looks like endless hours of fun ahead!

And, on further consideration of the picture, I suspect that the spare may have sat in the box behind the offside (presumably, because the vehicle is LHD) rear wheel.

I must admit even living in France I havnt seen one like that. having followed the above links i was shocked to see just how much these are worth restored !, the countryside here must be littered with them rotting away in the corner of barns; The pig farmer just down the road was using the livestock version up to a couple of years ago, must pay him a visit!!.

For a little light relief from my ship build I started mine a couple of weeks ago. I wasnt going to bother doing a WIP, but it seems the model is creating a bit of interest here so perhaps I should take some pics on my progress . Full praise to Heller for the design of this kit, the fit of the parts is incredible, 20 at least make up the bodywork. There is a fully detailed engine, but once every thing is finished very little of it can be seen, but the parts that form the front bodywork are in clear plastic so I suppose you could if you wanted, it did cross my mind to leave the engine bonnet off in the cab.

I brought mine from here just before Christmas, but I see they are now out of stock,, must be falling off the shelves like hot cakes !!.

Never had so much fun building a construction kit in years, this things an appliance of science .

I got mine direct from Heller for just under 22 Euros plus postage - over here the supply of Heller kits is irregular, to say the least.

And you may well be right, mbdesignart - mine was a Mk 1 Eyeball assessment of the picture. My graphics computer is on the blink at present, so I can't get access to Photoshop to do a decent measure.

And, as an aside, it looks like a Dutch chassis - it doesn't have the "suicide" doors.

I am trying to source a kit from France via a friend.

Admiral Puff, I wasn't aware there was a different option for the doors, I bow to your superior knowledge.

A further trawl through the inter web resulted in this find which would make a nice set with the Citroen 2Cv Fourgonette.

I didn't find out about the doors until I did my trawl that brought to light the picture with the DS 19.

And I did find (and save) the 2CV picture. I may do that conversion if the present project works - there's an Ebbro 2CV Fourgonette sitting idle in the stash at the moment.

Geez Louise, I could spend the rest of my life making models of HYs! Thanks for that - some brilliant stuff there!

Maybe We can just have Heller ship us a container full.

Antoine, the H is iconic in it's own right but has appeared over here probably since it's heyday. It is used mainly for promotional purposes and is now familiar on London streets as a fast food/sandwichbar/coffee stall vendors machine.

Was this vehicle common in the UK at the time?

Just wondering.

Not very. We had a bigger industry at the time. Things like the BMC LD, J2 and J4 vans, the Bedford CA and the Ford Thames 400E. Before the advent of the Transit.

Heller products are often distributed by Jouéclub, a network of toy shops.

Le Tube Citröen can be found there.

A little bit off topic, With the sad demise of Mini Loisiers in St Brieuc, do you know of any other dedicated model shops in Dept 22 Antoine ? .The rather limited range of kits and paints in Joueclub at Langueux does depress me a little bit.
