Paul A H
German 7,5cm PaK 40 & Soldiers 1:72 Revell Most of Revell's figure sets are moulded in soft, jaunty coloured plastic which usually proves impossible to paint. This set is a little different, not least because it includes a whacking great anti-tank gun, but also because the parts are moulded from a calming grey plastic of intermediate density; it isn't as hard as a regular styrene sheet, but it's nowhere near as soft as Revell's figure sets. Inside the boxvelope, you get 12 figures and a total of 32 parts in the form of two identical sprues, enabling you to build two guns complete with crew. The figures are more detailed than Revell's usual efforts, with much crisper moulding. Hopefully they will be easier to clean up and paint too. Most of this can probably be explained by the fact that this is a reissue of an Italeri kit rather than a native Revell offering. Although the detail and finish falls short of some of the state of the art injection moulded figures from the likes of Dragon, they are pretty decent and details such as the folds in clothing are nicely represented. Painting them may or may not be tricky due to the slightly flexible plastic used. Conclusion While these might not represent the pinnacle of the model makers art, they are good enough to pass muster in a small-scale diorama. Worth a look if this is your thing.Revell model kits are available from all good toy and model retailers.
