In Flight Mosquito Finished

Recommended Posts

1/48 Tamiya FB Mosquito. OOB kit with Prop-Blurs in place of the kit props for the in-flight look.

Goods: Great kit. Wheel well doors fit well in the UP position. It's a Tamiya kit, not much to say other than just a fantastic kit. Glad I have 3-4 more in the stash.

Others: Always one to self-critique my own builds; I missed painting two canopy rails, and I put some of the Prop-Blurs in the wrong direction but found out too late.

Overall....I just love the Mosquito, one of....if not my fav aircraft. This is going to look great in my office.

Questions and comments welcome...apologize for the bad pics in my makeshift camera bay.

Cheers
Collin

Good job on that.

I've been a bit skeptical about those 'spin a props' but you have done them well and they really add to the drama.

Thanks for posting

The Mossie looks absolutely right in every respect and the prop blurs add so much to the in-flight mode in my opinion, I particularly like photo 3 of her banking. I'm doing a Spitfire right now using prop blurs though I'm not sure about the best way to fit them. Are yours straight onto the spinner base?

Thanks all.

IRT to the Propblurs; I took the original propellers and cut off the main prop blade but left behind the base/hub. Withstubs of where the props were...I cut slots/slits in the base so that the base of the Propblur would slide into (and superglued into). I then just glued the remaining prop hub (with slots cut and blades missing) into the rear base of the prop assembly. When it came time to finish (post painting the blurs off the model), I just slide them into the slots, glued them then brought the front and back of the kit prop base/rounded cover together. Dummy me put a few of the blades in the wrong direction...but lesson learned for me.

Cheers

Collin

Very nicely done, she'll make a fantastic desk piece! I've always been a little skeptical about "in flight" and blurring the prop blades but that works very well.

Congrats!
