jrlx Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Brilliant work. The fit looks very good. It seems you just need to apply some extra thin glue to the joins and let the capillary effect do its trick Cheers Jaime 1

Very nice indeed Thank you very much Nigel! Nice work Stix - lovely details in this Tamiya kit its all looking great with the neat paint job Thank you too Greg for your kind comments. Right - unfortunately I ended up taking longer on my Made in Britain GB project than I had intended and did't get as much done as I had hoped on this one. Most of the time was spent fiddling about test fitting the cockpit in the fuselage halves before getting the tub glued together. I also felt it was worth recording a few more photos of it all before it's all hidden away. First up - cockpit wall testing inside the fuselage halves: These were just held in place with some Blu-tack. A couple of views of the seat and floor: .........and then up against the fuselage walls: Now with the IP lodged in place as well: No IP: And the IP in place: The IP on it's own: And then the tub was all glued together: I did do a bit more work in the afternoon yesterday painting the insides of things like wheel wells but didn't get chance to take any photos. Roll on next weekend! Comments and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix Edited January 25, 2016 by PlaStix 11
giemme Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Great looking interiors, superb job! What have you used for the seat belts, please? Ciao 1
PlaStix Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Great looking interiors, superb job! What have you used for the seat belts, please? Ciao Hi Giemme and thank you. Don't let on.............but the seat belts are actually the seat belts decal that comes with the kit. I didn't fancy spending time with masking tape and wire to make some so I decided to carefully cut out the decal and backing paper before giving it an all over thinned wash of Humbrol's matt varnish. The lighter, upper belts have subsequently been given a wash of another light colour to tone down the original very bright yellowy colouring. Unfortunately I cannot remember the colour I used for the toning down. I then glued them in place with CA glue. They arn't perfect but they should be okay once they are mostly hidden inside the aircraft. I think they work a lot better in this way than if I had used them as an actual decal. Kind regards, Stix 4
stevej60 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Excellent work on that cockpit Stix, you won't see better than that even in 32 scale! 1
Basilisk Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Very nice pit, looking forward to see your build progress. In regards to the silver finish, have you considered metal pigments like these? http://www.uschivdr.com/shopping-categories/shop-colors-paints-pigments-primer/metallic-colors-pigments/ This gives maybe a better result than brush painting silver. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Peter 2
jrlx Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Superb job on the cockpit and good idea to use the seat belt decals with the backing paper Cheers Jaime 1
