Michaelvk
I really love these Bandai kits.. I cannot wait to start on the Y-wing I have in the stash.. Meanwhile, here's R5 in a nice, grimy guise. They go together so quickly.. This took me two days from start to finish.. He's been painted in a combination of Vallejo, Revell and Tamiya acrylics, then weathered with Tamiya acrylics and Citadel and AK washes..
Andy Moore
That's a fantastic looking R5. Lovely work on the weathering. Hoping to pick up another of these myself soon, along with the R2/BB-8 set Andy

PhantomMajor
Wow he turned out great, do you get a third middle leg with these droids or do they only come with two legs?
Michaelvk
Thanks everyone! Wow he turned out great, do you get a third middle leg with these droids or do they only come with two legs? Yes, and it's retractable, I just chose to keep it stowed here.
PhantomMajor
did you paint all of the kit or just some of the parts? i'm thinking it would be hard to paint the red and blue sections once the kit has been assembled... or did you paint all the parts while they were on the sprues and then assemble the kit? I painted the parts on the sprues prior to assembly. It lends itself very well to that. There were a few decals that needed placing, but overall there was zero masking involved, which is nice. Air-to-Air
All it needs is an image of a Jawa sand crawler behind it and it would be perfect. Excellent work, sounds like it was very enjoyable too.

68 SQUADRON
looks great. i can understand them making it easy to paint without masking as gundam bots are usually molded in different colours. But does it come with the broken motivator to stick out of the top?
The Spadgent
That's ace! I was thinking about getting one of the Bandai kits. You just made my mind up. 😉
fernwood79
Star Wars started the idea of 'The Used Future' all those years ago. Before that, pretty much all SciFi was Star Trek shiny. Your R5 is done in the finest tradition of that. Excellent work
