eng
Looking to replace my current respiratior used whilst spraying and just wondered what everyone uses and if anyone can make any good recommendations. My current mask is actually quite uncomfortable and I'm sure the sinus discomfort after spraying is down to pressure across the bridge of the nose/below eye sockets, and not that the mask isn't doing its job well enough. I've used respirators for years at work when spraying anti-corrosive products so know the general does and don'ts with regards to their use. The mask to face seal is pretty good and I cannot smell anything when spraying, the mask is a filtered unit with cartridges for particle and vapour filtration, but uncomfortable for any lengthy spraying sessions. I'd be interested to hear what others use or can recommend, airbrushing without one just isn't an option and its time to invest in a new mask. I do also use an extractor style spray booth when airbrushing too. Rgds, Eng

Darby
I never use one. Mind you where I spray I do have powerful extractor fans and If I did need a mask I've still got my S10 rezzy.
Séan Pádraig
3M 6000 series http://www.amazon.co.uk/3M-6000-Half-Reusable-Respirator/dp/B005HK05L2/ref=sr_1_1 These are good, I had a pair with a single filter in the center and found it obscured my view ..... the double filter layout corrected that. Head in the clouds.
I too, like Darby use a spray booth with extract fan and I have not found a need for a mask as yet, but keeping the filter clean is a must.
Paul Bradley
Another vote for the 3m. Although I have a commercial-type spray booth, I always wear a respirator as well - you cannot be too careful with your lungs.... P_Budzik
Always, Always, Always! ... Even for quick shots with a spray can. Models are a hobby, healthcare is my profession ... don't mess around with your lungs. Paul
Miggers
3M 6000 series http://www.amazon.co.uk/3M-6000-Half-Reusable-Respirator/dp/B005HK05L2/ref=sr_1_1 +1 for this too. As a professional sprayer, this is what I use for 1K stuff at work and have one for home airbrushing use too.
bzn20
Use a mask/cartridge that the tech department of each companies chemical/material recommend when you are using/spraying,sanding etc. There isn't just one that is suitable for all. We have loads of different cartridges for each task. EG..We couldn't use the NATO NBC respirators for working in Aircraft fuel tanks, paint spraying etc. Please check, its important and it isn't worth a light with the wrong gear. All the glue, paint, chemical depts have their phone number on the packaging.
eng
Thanks for all the good info folks, the 3M one is one I had considered. Gotta back up most of the guys here in saying that even if you are using a spray booth, it really is worth considering a mask as well. Many thanks for the support chaps, Eng
