Why are there so many complaints about small areas of correction required. This is not a £150+ kit, this is a Revell kit and it's sub £60. Where else are you going to find a "perfect" 1/32nd scale modern aircraft for that price?

Accept the price, accept the defects and just build it.

Happy modelling

Well said, some people can't help themselves when it comes to letting us know how much they know & how high their selection standards are.

Just to make sure. You mean tooling and injection rarely happen in the same place ? If so AFAIK you're right.

Yes, most moulding companies will sub contract the actual machining of the tooling to specialised manufacturers but could have engineers to maintain the tools, this being one of the responsibilities I had when I worked in the industry. As to the instructions to remove the flash I would agree with sinnerboy in that they are alluding to the mould seam lines & not flash produced due to bad condition setting (flash is not the result of old or worn tooling but bad condition setting & QC). Given the increase in CAD designed kits & tooling & computer controlled manufacture I would imagine that the dimensions & tolerances achievable could lead to assembly difficulties if even tiny variations in the final parts are present. £60 for a 1/32nd state of the art kit, Rock-on Revell I say.

My kit arrived this afternoon.  The box is enormous!

I paid under £60 for mine delivered and, therefore, I am viewing it that context, rather than comparing it to Tamiya or ZM, which would probably come at a price at least double that.  The plastic is quite soft and there are lots of ejector pins on the parts.  I haven't had time to look at these in detail but I suspect that a lot of them won't be seen but don't expect t get away with zero clean up.

The following photos are of the spine parts:

I don't have sprue cutters or sanding sticks to hand, so I am afraid that this is the best that I can do.  To me, the shape just looks wrong.  The spine seems way too flat compared to the photographs I have reviewed.  I am not sure how easy it is to fix, but I will leave better builders than me comment further.

It is a shame because it is a highly noticeable area of the completed model.

Over to you guys.

There might well be an am spine fix on the way...

Any more info on that e.g. where from and would it include a new rear canopy part?

I hope it is wrong & inaccurate & consequently no one buys it so that I can get one cheap when they are reduced in price 'cos everyone's overstocked. I don't care if it's not perfect, at £60 I'll live with it so keep trashing it & finding more things"wrong" with it.

I fancy a Growler as well so when that comes out I'd appreciate it everyone could rubbish that one too.

😂😂. Sensible fellow!Totally agree! Ok, the rivet counters won't like it but, for every one of them, I suspect there are probably 50 others who, like you and I , will happily accept it and work with it - especially at the price!😀

Can you enlighten us further?!.... :)

Sorry I can't, I didn't post to tease, just to say there is a solution on the way.

Hopefully someone will release some decals for the E, which are pretty thin on the ground.

Will hold off starting mine then!   Can't find and reviews  of it yet.   Wondering what the online and magazine experts will make of it..

Well going by standard form, most will probably rubbish the kit, find all manner of things wrong (most will be minor and insignificant), criticise every single part of it and generally put most people off from building the model....just saying.

For me from what I've seen, I'd be pretty pleased to build it up as is.

No arguments here!😊! To be honest, I suspect that the aforementioned "most people" probably couldn't care less and, like you and I will happily build it anyway

Hi all. I am new here. Return to model buildings after 15 years. Next week I buy airbrush equipment (victories H + S Ultra or Evolution solo, Compressor Tagore + tank) Jet Fighters 1/48 Techniques military, 1/35 Technique. I always liked Super Hornet. I have Revell 1/72, _F_ and Swiss model _C_ early Monogram 1/48. Small for me 🙂 Revell _F_. I like Trumpeter 1/32, mainly VFA-31 decals. Pilot name Kevin Kovalcich. That's from my area, Kovacs or Kovacik. Probably my relatives from my country of Czechoslovakia or Hungary, Poland ... In his service, the commander of the Kovalches was far away. Airplane, Squadron and War in Afghanistan, Iraq. Decals from 2007. 2008 + 2009 already another pilot, not Commander Dixon. At this time, is it sooner, what is better? Revell or Trumpeter? Trumpeter good weapon equipment for hangers (AIM-120 4x, Aim-9 2x, Harpoon and AG Gbu / jdam armament), AN / ASQ-228 electronic system and Litening. There is no manual in the manual, but according to the pictures (F-18, me Czech Gripen, Rafale, EA Typhon II and others) there are both for gluing. Revell cheaper, max decals VFA-105 squad squadron leader, Sara Joyner, the first woman .... That's interesting. We are talking about little money, little music. Here at Revell, what I read and seen will be: a lot of work for a little money. Beautiful fighter, pity. Revell to lose a chance. Probably a chance to use aftermarket resin parts manufacturer. Me country Eduard, Aries or Quickboots or 🙂 big putty, grinding. Primary Big big big modeller patience.
Thank you for your ideas. And sorry for my little English. Eduard, Czech Republic.  Very thx.

Huh ? All problems are in this short piece of hump ? This can be simple corrected a resin AM parts, no ? It is a little shame, super bug was prepared three years, and can be released without bugs.... but first impressions over open box are (for me)good. Relative small parts count, when isn't here a build issues (who know) - and you can build a really HUGE Supersonic in few days... New plastic looks good and isn' t here surface issues as in revell classic white material Made in Poland...

Looking at the instructions download from Scalemates site, it seems the issue is with the sepeate flat component #121 ie I wonder if when the two seat version comes it will resolve itself

I compared many versions this morning as I wanted to add an F-18E to my collection; Revells own 1/48 also looks good and has the hump modelled far better but the great increase in detail (engines, U/C etc) and the fact the aircraft can be modelled with wings folded (on 1:32 version) plus the price at 62 Euros made it a good option

I will be interested to see what the AM solution is for the fuselage correction

I am also hoping someone will do a set of Royal Maces decals for it in 1/32

Cheers

Wonder who will be first with decals for the Poblachd Neo -eisimileach Feachd an Adhair (Air Force of the Independent Scottish Republic)? :whistle:. No, I am not kidding!! Given that there is no specific timeline for this pet project of mine, the F-18 is as good a choice as any for my forthcoming line up!
