Tim Moff
Good point - will explore the slot option, but would mean hollowing out the tank? Sprue idea flush on tank would work well giving a bit of play Maybe the pins top and bottom would be easiest. Tim Moff
Looking at the tanks, I will need to fettle a bit to get the correct fit - there is a gap at the front where it meets the wing as it stands....may well use the Airfix kits tanks for this build, and the Heritage tanks for the future S2B builld - that has no under wing decals, so I can attach as part of the build and fill if needed. Tim Moff
As the temp in UK rose today, I got the rattle can Mr Surfacer in last night and primed today in preparation for my first bash at black basing.... Sure goes on well. Have done the upper tale plane bit too.....just need to sort out the Airfix slippers, weapon pylons, refueling probe, Ae's, wingy bits, etc and prime them.... Been advised to do the white the same as any colour - by marbling first.
Tim Moff
Not much work this weekend - been on duty cover and its been busy - got the Airfix slippers out, cut off the pins and the fit is good - so will use the resin on my Airfix kit sometime in the future. Got the last pieces off the sprue and primed it all, so I can maybe mask just 'north' of demarcation lines and get the white marble coat then the top coat on this week on my TOIL. I will then remask the demarcation line, seal in with some white to prevent bleed as best as possible and look at the EDSG uppers - time may run out before I'm off on some work related travel to Brazil/Mexico after so be a bit of a pause. Plenty of GB time left yet!
CliffB
Nice to see your update Tim. As you say, that black finish looks great. Cliff
Nigel Bunker
I only just discovered this thread - you might want to check the fin height as I seem to remember through the mists of time that the Frog fin is vertically deficient.

Bit like me Nigel! I will crack on out of the box - as long as it looks like a Banana!!
David Womby
This is looking really good, Tim. I've never seen that Mr Surfacer black before. It seems really useful. David
825
Will mask up and attach. Any advice on the frame colour? I have seen bright yellow, light yellow, white, beige...!? The main frame surround and windscreen are Extra Dark Sea Grey while the rest is off white. I think it's some form of plastic/silicone seal. This walk round might help http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234977306-blackburn-buccaneer-s2b-xx894/ Good work, looking good. Tim Moff
not much more done tbh - catching up with the the SHAR build so I can get the airbrush out and attempt to share paint at the same time. The white will go on first - so I have put some tape on as guidance so I ensure I get the whole area needing white. Will need to do all the rails/tanks/EW pods etc as well. Whilst I have the white out, I will do the SHAR missile rails and maybe use a bit during the marble phase of the black basing paint job to add some variation. Again its cold in the garage - its mothers day and I am also off on my travels for 10 days this arvo - so the painting will have to wait until I am back in 10 days ......... Am using Mr Color, bit worried about white (that and yellow always seem issues!) but we will see how it goes - start on the tail plane undersides.
ClaudioN
To add, the slippers are all white on my decal instructions - on the CMR very detailed kit instructions they are shown as EDSG and white. Looking at these films below, they all appear to be white only? Buccaneers in the film are early machines from the trials unit, No. 700B Squadron. EDSG top to the slipper tanks may have been introduced a bit later. Claudio
Tim Moff
After a work imposed hiatus, I got into the garage this morning determined to get some spraying done. Got my Mr Color white out to find it seems to have dried solid.....after much deliberation I got out my XtraColor white, thinned it and got it on - no mottling as this is enamel so it had to be a layered effect to try to keep some tonal variation with the white! Not ideal, but heyho, its on now.....as ever white is a battle and its hard to know how it was going to look so I have just left well alone! So this will need lots of time to really cure so I can get the demarcation tape on and seal it in with a thin coat of brushed white to stop and bleeds from the EDSG - back to work tomorrow so hopefully be good for the weekend. Decided to go with the whole white slipper unless I can see a reference that is different apart from the CMG plans.
825
Good work. White is always a challenge. Thank goodness there weren't many FAA types between EDSG/Sky and overall grey. But they are a lovely bunch; the Buccaneer, Sea Vixen, Phantom and the SHAR. (I know there were some Sea Venoms and Sea Hawks in EDSG/White but you can get away with Sky). You can see the end in sight on this build.
Tim Moff
Paint cured nice and tough - I do like the Xtracolor range when using enamels. Whilst spraying the SHAR I put some MSG on the upper areas as part of the Black Base 'marbling' to try to get some tonal variation. I will add some more and mix with the ESDG when I cover the tail decals on the SHAR. Typically my little Neo compressor appears to have packed up so have ordered a Iwata Silver Jet - hopefully be here for next week when I have some leave. Have masked off the Bucc and as I am a high Risk Security/Safety Advisor I am taking no chances and placed all mitigations in place - and covered her white areas completely! Plan to use the Mr Color EDSG maybe with a touch of white.
Col.
Love that colour-scheme on the Bucc Well done on getting a good solid white layer laid down.
Tim Moff
Got some spraying in with the new Silver Jet - now that extra PSI has made things a lot easier spraying Mr Color..... Mottled the Bucc with some 335 MSG, 308 Grey (used on the SHAR's AIM9 and some 333 Extra Dark Sea Grey: I then thinned the remainder right down and tried to slowly mist over to get some tonal variation - not too easier with darker colours: Think its an ok job though. Next I will need to tape off the wing walk areas for the yellow line by the flaps and also the stainless steel for the leading edge wing/tailplane areas, intake rings, exhaust rings etc. Also some tan to go on the front/rear 'bullets' on the tailplane that are fibreglass (as well as an area on the belly. Have ordered some Mr Metal paints, but will make do with some Humbrol if they don't arrive in time. Soon be ready for Gloss coat and decals...going to try X22 Tamiya and Mr Leveller thinners 50/50% as it has been recommended.
Dermo245
Looking good and once the decals start going on, I think the tonal variation will really come alive. Great stuff! Dermot

Tim Moff
Some more work done today: Got the fibreglass areas hand painted on... Masked up for the yellow area down the flaps and the stainless steel areas on the leading edge of the wings: peeled back some masking to expose the area to paint the stainless steel around the intake rings...looks promising! Paint on....masks off! Some detail painting, lights, RWR bullets, exhaust heat shield, etc and all the tape off.... Starting to look the part - hopefully get the X22/MLT mix gloss coat down tomorrow....
