A £369m contract to maintain the RAF's Hercules fleet has been awarded to Cambridge-based Marshall Aerospace helping to secure 1,200 jobs.

The agreement will mean continued support for the C-130Js until 2022, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.

No surprises really. Marshalls have design authority on the Herc (Tristar and a few others) and have done since Pontius was a pilot.Building new wings and fitting for the original Herc fleet . Good news for all the guys I used to work with,I'm pleased for them as it always gets a bit twitchy waiting for the decision even if its 98% certain. All the ground equip is owned by the MOD and the ministry's DQA team would have to relocated to follow the contract if it went elsewhere.
