Alpha Delta 210
A £369m contract to maintain the RAF's Hercules fleet has been awarded to Cambridge-based Marshall Aerospace helping to secure 1,200 jobs. The agreement will mean continued support for the C-130Js until 2022, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-35198839
bzn20
No surprises really. Marshalls have design authority on the Herc (Tristar and a few others) and have done since Pontius was a pilot.Building new wings and fitting for the original Herc fleet . Good news for all the guys I used to work with,I'm pleased for them as it always gets a bit twitchy waiting for the decision even if its 98% certain. All the ground equip is owned by the MOD and the ministry's DQA team would have to relocated to follow the contract if it went elsewhere. Dave Fleming
Fleet going down from 24 to 14 though, as the A400M comes on stream in the next few years. Sensible decision rather than the previos 'no more than two of any type' policy.
