Crusader Mk.III / British Cruiser Tank Mk.VI

Paints: Humbrol and Revell - all applied by brush.

The tank is built OOB but I have added some stowage items

WIP: Here

This was a superb kit to built and I had originally planned on making a base for it, but my commitments in other GBs means I'm not going to get time - so the photos here are ones I took after I'd finished the tank a while back.

Sopwith Camel. Academy boxing of the old Revell offering. Hand painted with acrylics. No rigging as to be honest life's too short. Primarily O/O/B after from bulking the characteristic hump. Colourful little thing.

Build thread here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234997991-sopwith-camel/

Thought I was going to fail to finish in time, and had some issues... but made it, barely! Here's the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 (build thread - what there is of it - here.

Yet another last minute finish here, though to be honest, it was finished a few days ago and I've only just got the computer back. Airfix 1/72 Swordfish from Operation Torch. I struggled a bit with the windscreen, had to trim quite drastically t get it around the struts, and I've just noticed that one of the rigging wires has come loose, and the Starboard tyre has some paint missing. I'll get them later.

In the mean time, here are some pics:

And now SWMBO's Hurricane, also from the Op Torch boxing, built OOB, brush painted with Humbrol acrylics. The Decals were applied straight over the paint, without a gloss coat, and treated with Decalfix. I'm quite impressed with how well they snugged down over a very Matt paint finish.

She didn't want to go to the effort of putting the stencils on, so I've saved them and maybe I'll do it for her at a later date.

Here are the pics:

Kit: 1/72 'Dogfight Double' Airfix Douglas A4B Skyhawk and BAE Sea Harrier FRS1 A50134

Subject: BAE Sea Harrier FRS1 ZA177 / 77, originally from 809 Naval Air Squadron, Fleet Air Arm, Royal Navy - operating from HMS Hermes in the South Atlantic with 800/899 Naval Air Squadrons , 8 June 1982.

Flt Lt Dave Morgan DSC was over Choiseul Sound, having just engaged and destroyed A4B Skyhawk C-226 with an AIM9L Sidewinder, with pilot Teniente Juan J Arrarás killed in action.

In the scene depicted Morgan is engaging a second Skyhawk, C-228, during which he fired his second AIM9L Sidewinder, destroying the Skyhawk, again pilot Ensign Alfredo Vazquez was killed in action.

Morgan turned his attentions to Skyhawk C-204, flown by 1st Lt Danilo Bolzan - with only his Cannon left and a U/S HUD, he failed to destroy the Skyhawk and disengaged, low on fuel.

Morgan's wingman, Lt David Smith in SHAR XZ499, then engaged Bolzan in C-204, firing an AIM9L, which at the limit of its range, proximity detonated, sending the out of control Skyhawk crashing into the ground. Pilot 1st Lt Danilo Bolzan was also killed in action.

By 14 June 1982 ZA177 had flown 42 operational sorties. Fl Lt Dave Morgan, on secondment to the Fleet Air Arm from the Royal Airforce, was the highest scoring SHAR pilot, with 4 kills. He was 1/3 of his way into his Sea Harrier conversion training when sent south. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, which is awarded for 'gallantry during active operations against the enemy'.

Story in his own words:

Details: Modeled as per reference pics from Nick Greenhall's excellent 'The Falklands War - Sea Harrier FRS1 - an overview of the Fleet Air Arms Falklands war Sea Harriers. Out of the box except the addition of a Master metal pitot kit.

Misc: Mr Color Paints, Humbrol paints, Xtracolor paints, Master metal Pitot kit, X22/Mr Leveler Thinner gloss, artists oils.
