Flyboy72nd
If you can lay your hands on a Gunze product 'Mr Metal Primer' your away to the races!! It brushes on very well (have done this on several occasions) and enamel paint adheres well. It is a clear liquid so you have to be careful painting it for fear of missing some spots and once dried it really cannot be noticed. gavingav1
The hh-53 is pointless, you may as well get an italeri kit at least you will be able to use the italeri decal sheet, why have academy done this as a special edition and put their made in korea impervious to anything decal sheets in the box . Uncle Dick
I wish Academy would get with the program and provide colour painting guide profiles, Black & White is very passé for this amount of money! HTH Sorry to say that the Gunze Mr Metal primer only works on brass type materials; I've used it on stainless etched sheets and it does nothing other than make a bad smell. However you can lightly etch the stainless sheet by using a solution of ammonium persulphate, which is used for etching PCB's, and connecting it to a 9v battery in an electrolytic etch. If you use it for a few seconds you get a nice frosted surface on the etch without damaging the details, and the paint sticks nicely to that. Hope this helps Cheers Les

71chally
You'd think they would have at least enlarged the wheels and seat etc. I think it should be Light Aircraft Grey where it is showing aluminium on the 4FTS machine Edited October 14, 2016 by 71chally

It's pointless for us in Europe but it's not for the Asian modellers, who will have easier acces to this kit at a lower price compared to the original Italian one. Uncle Dick
The Green Lizards A-6E are circa 1977 while the HARM included as armament only started being introduced from 1983/84... Back to the future!

FIGHTS ON
from the link to their website, and best efforts of google translate(!) it suggests that the 1/48 CH-53E & MH-53E are still available - or has google failed me? Cannot see these for sale anywhere and the price of one on evilbay at the moment suggests that buying a 1/1 scale version direct from Sikorsky is probably a cheaper option.........
