Hey guys, this year was quite strange from the modelling point of view to me.. a lot of new things happened in my life (all for good i believe :) ) and the result was, i did not have that much time for modelling as before. Also i still do not have any showcase in my new home, so i guess the next step was just logical result of all what was said - this year i was building kits mainly as a gifts for friends or family members.. which mostly led to close deadlines, hurry up builds and such..

Well, the last for this year is finished. It was bulit as a christmas gift for my bro, who is (same like me) fan of the War Thunder game. I wanted to build one of his favourite planes (and i m sure i ll build more in future in this way, thats why it is just round1 :) ). But in the end, i had to change my mind a bit..

So the plan was to build exact copy of his ingame Spitfire Mk.XVIe. I found the kit for it (excellent Eduards kit in overtrees version), i found painting masks (Montex, great as usualy) and some more stuff between the spare parts ( PE instrument panel and seat belts,Quickboost doors). At first i started to work on the pit and i did build it based on the ingame cockpit screenshots.

Most of the cockpit is OOB, some details were added here and there and i have used some self-adhesive "jewelery" on the gunsight, to imitate the glass "bubble" on top of it and i think it worked quite well :)
Anyway, when i was taking close looks on the ingame model of Spitfire XVI, i have noticed the designers made their job a bit easier and took parts from older Spitfire marks.. So the wings top side in the game is mix of IXc, IXe, and late IXe, wings underside is taken even from I/IIa (with 4x 0,33 cal MG covers.... ), antena wire like on the early spits (from fuselage to tail tips) and so on.. at first i wanted to make all of these changes, but in the end i did not want to make such an ugly mix, so i decided to finish the build as XVI with marking based on the ingame Spitfire XVI :)
Well, to finish the wall of the text, here is the result :) From the photos i have noticed i did not paint the wind shield framing from the back side, so i have fixed it later but did not take any shots after the fix.

A lot of care and Spit knowledge went into this one, that much is certain.

Exquisite model, looking just 'right' to my eyes.

Kind regards,

Joachim

Exactly as Joachim says for me too.

That's a lesson in how to correctly present a used Spit, none of this "artistic" over-done looks like a chess board fantasy weathering malarky.

You've researched your subject in the real world to produce a superb model there.

Incidentally,I've always a hankering to do my trusty IL-2 sim '109G-6.

What's your brother's combat score presently Wolwe?mine(on IL-2)is 86 for two bailouts at the moment.

Thanks guys, honestly i did not expect so nice reactions as it was realy quick build in the end, and as much as i can be happy with the result, i still see the errors and such :) A lot of the good things goes on the absolutely amazing work Eduard did on their Spit honestly - i think it must be one of the very very best kits of all times, real joy to build.

To Miggers - in War Thunder it is a bit different (or well, in the arcade mode at least) - you have usualy 4-6 planes for a battle, i dont know my bro´s score exactly, but mine is usualy like 6-7 enemies for one own lost plane, so not even close to your Il-2 Bf 109 ;)

But i have plan for future, to make collection of my planes from War thunder, but given the amount of planes, i would probably chose 72scale ;)

That is perfection (or as close as you can get! ). Your builds always fascinate me, I could spend ages looking at the pictures just picking out all the tiny little details! Your weathering is always Bob on.... I only hope to one day be in the same place

A beautiful model of my favourite mark of Spitfire.

Very convincing weathering makes this a real stunner.

Yep. That's exactly what I'd want my stuff to look like (but it sadly doesn't). Beautiful work.

That is one of the best made and finished Spitfires I've seen! Absolutely stunningly beautiful modelling as always. Your attention to detail with the weathering is amazing. Well done Wolwe. :worthy::worthy::worthy:

Another great build Wolwe, I always look forward to them, and like Rob, just stare and stare trying to learn new techniques. I can't wait to see more from your new 'War Thunder' series (and I may need to try out that game sometime).

I suppose to get that kind of score it helps that I'm a clay-pigeon shooter too,I find that one compliments the other

for helping to get the "lead"(as in dog not as in shot)worked out for a successful shoot down/busted clay.

Excellent build, looks very sharp and I love the weathering! I'm also a War Thunder player and I find that flying certain planes inspires me to build them as well. Keep up the good work!
