Redboost
Hi folks, got the new Trumpeter kit a while ago for a review and here is the result... Built with some older aftermarkets designed for older kits like Aires cockpit for Italeri or cast Pitot for Hasegawa; decals were taken from Airfix kit.See the build review here: http://www.valiantwingsmodelling.co.uk/mig-29a-izdelye-912-983-p.aspCheersLibor

Redboost
Thanks gents! The construction was fine throughout, no filler was needed. Snitok: Airfix are only decals:-) Cheers Libor

Binbrook Lion
Beautiful crisp build!!! Nice having the towbar in the kit too. I've got to finish my Italeri Mig 29 before I can get one of these. Seeing your build has boosted my motivation.
ANovaScotian
Great job! p.s. ZVEZDA will release new kit MIG-29 (9-13) in the end this mounth. If the Trumpeter MiG-29 is anything like their Su-27s, Zvezda won't be able to hold a candle to it. I just completed the 1/72 Su-27UB and I have to say its one of the best kits I've built to date, and having compared the two companies Flanker Bs, the Zvezda kit wasn't anywhere near the level of the Trumpeter kit. Flankerman
The 'old' Zvezda Su-27 Flanker B kit is a rebox of the Nakotne/Encore/Berkut kits and like you say is pretty ropey. The new Zvezda Su-27SM on the other hand is the best, most accurate Flanker currently available. The Trumpeter Su-27 range (Su-27, Su-27UB, Su-27 Early, J-11B, Su-30MKK) are the best currently available - excepting the above mentioned Su-27SM kit. But they have their issues - like the angled main wheel wells for starters. Ken

Ken + 1 I would add that the "sit" or "stance" of the aircraft ( beautifully build and painted by Libor) looks definitely strange ! I do not think that it is due to a build mishap, Libor is too serious for that !. I have the Trumpy kit cause it was at a very good price ( 20 Euro). I like the amount and finesse of the surface details and the general shape and panel lines of the fuselage are spot on with the 4+ plan, that served also for G.W.H. The different pylons and weapons are of the same vein. Nevertheless I am eagerly waiting for the Zvezda one. Looks maybe less detailed but who knows .... Navy Bird
Outstanding craftsmanship, Libor! I have to say that your build output, besides being so fast, is always at such a consistently high level. I don't know how you do it, but please keep it up! And it's good to know that Trumpeter got one right for a change! Although someone mentioned the stance being strange - not sure what that means. Nose too high? Too low? I have the Airfix/Heller kit that you sourced the decals from, and I always thought it looked nice in the box. But I guess the wings are the wrong size among other issues. Plus I kind of like the humpback of the 9-13... Cheers, Bill

It may be accurate, but the panel lines looked a little soft and shallow for my liking. Edited December 23, 2015 by ANovaScotian
