AgentG Posted December 22, 2015 Share Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) They are the initials of the inspector, A. D. King. King was a "Sword Inspector" for the US Government from 1850-1865. It sounds like a classic 1860 US Cavalary sabre by Ames manufacturing. Somewhere it should be stamped "Chicopee, Mass", as in Chicopee, Massachusetts home of the Ames works.
