Dassault Mirage IIIB

Thanks

There is also the Heller 1/48 Mirage 111 B / C, can build either out of the box. Can be found quite cheaply on auction sites. Assuming you don't mind old tech eg raised panel lines.

Mine built quite well, a few years ago now and lives in a box in the atic somewhere, with no major problems but don't expect the detail of modern kits. I cant comment on its accuracy but looked fine to me. Give it a try.

True, the old Heller kit can be turned into a beautiful model with some scratch building and rescribing the panel lines and elbow grease. Converting the Kinetic IIID is much less work though. Here's a link below of one built.

It is probably the best Mirage shapewise... in any scale, of any variant.

But it is old and void of detail.

I just build an Israeli B ...and really liked it!

But for any other variant I'd either use the Eduard (C model)  or Kinetic Mirage III as basis!

Does anyone know what's wrong with the Kinetic kit that needs correcting? I have one on pre-order from Hannants...

Jon

I don't know but I've seen one built already and it looks great.

Jon,

The kit shape is pretty good, and one cannot mistake it for anything else. It just needs correction with smaller details like the front instrument panel, rear instrument panel and MFD, rear joystick, main gear wheels, CHAFF/FLARE dispenser, nose vents, detailed exhaust nozzle and ejection seats.

Thanks - that's really helpful.

  • 3 months later...

you get lots of plastic in this box.... some even needed for the Cheetah D ;)

by the way, why have to set of differently sized (length) I assume 1300 L tanks on the same sprue? :wall:

Looks good. I still haven't seen one for sale in the UK. Hopefully they arrive soon..

I ordered directly from Luckymodel as preorder in January... was shipped somewhen in March by surface shipping  and arrived this week :) (after lots of toll and import tax duties were duly paid)

I hope our supply was on the same ship 😃

My mates in South Africa have had theirs for over a month now. Yes that market would be a priority so that explains that, but I feel like a kid patiently waiting for Christmas morning! Every time the question is asked on social media about availability here, the answer from Kinetic is 'soon'.. Been like that for 2 months now..

Anyway, I'll just have to adult and be patient 👍
