Airfix 1/48 Hurricane Mk.I

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Been working on this on and off for a few weeks and this week have been through the painting stages.

Apologies for the lazy iPhone pics - I don't have a permanent photo area at the moment! (but I will set it all up for some shots when it's complete).

So far, I've used Alclad grey primer, Gunze aqueous Sky and Dark Earth and Tamiya Acrylic Dark Green, and Vallejo gloss varnish.

Looking forward to doing a bit of weathering and trying out some stuff I've not really done before. I just hope I don't ruin it.

Hello,Phil - You've made a beautiful looking build of your Hurricane.I fully respect and appreciate the aspect of weathering/realism but I secretly hope you'll keep that part to a minimum.she would look glorious with just a finishing varnish. All the best,Paul.

Great work going there, lovely kit the new Airfix Hurricane, I did a couple for the BoB group build, and they build up really well. Yours looks very nice, I agree with Paul above, minimal weathering just a bit of grime and a nice satin varnish is where it's at for me.

Thanks for the comments, chaps.

Well, I've pressed on with my intended weathering as I wanted this to be for developing my skills.

Post-decals, I've done a panel line wash, followed by flat coat and then overall filter and oil paint weathering.

I thought I'd messed the whole thing up when I had a slight misty look after the flat coat but I think the weathering has salvaged it.
