Airgunner
Tiny update time.... Not much exciting has happen over the last couple of days, I've been a bit busy and had little time. Dangly bits cleaned up and primed... And given a coat of Klear... So, all ready now for some decals tomorrow, and some more love to be lavished on the odds and sods. Thanks for looking Steve

Airgunner
Got the main decals on today, loads of stencils to go on tomorrow... Also got some paint on the turret, alone with a couple of Mike Grant decals for the data plates. A quick dry brush and it's there, glazing will be added and painted tomorrow. Hopefully more tomorrow... Thanks for looking.. Steve Edited December 17, 2015 by Airgunner

AdrianMF
This is coming up a treat! Glad to see that dark earth looking a lot less orange. I normally run my photos through a picture editor (I use "Photoscape", which is free) and set the white balance using some white on the model for reference. It's amazing how two photos taken next to each other can come out so different. Looks really neat with the decals on. Probably a good move to save the detailing - I think it looks busy enough with the turret closed, and there's a lot of detail there already. CedB
Looking really nice Steve I've finally bitten the bullet and ordered some Mike Grant decals - Nigel Heath uses them too so hopefully some of your (and his skill) will rub off when they arrive! Airgunner
Gents, thanks again for the support and kind comments. So after an evening spent wrangling it Photobucket, here is todays update... After yesterdays decal session, it's time to get the stencils on.... And after an hour, they're all done. So attention turns to the turret. For complicated masking jobs, I use Eduard masks as I am not good enough to cut my own. Before using then, I rub them with a bit of charcoal so I can see the edges easier.. Turret glazing masked.. And then sprayed.. Prop got done today too... Just could resist seeing what the turret looked like in place.... That's it for today, hopefully I will make a start on the weathering tomorrow... Thanks for looking Steve

AdrianMF
Keeps looking better and better! Weird stencils for the underside inspection holes - the MPM kit had them too (I left them off mine) so it's not just Airfix. Regards, Adrian

dubster72
That's looking so good, and what an excellent idea with the masks! Shame I only saw this after spending an hour straining my eyes with Bf 110 canopy!
Airgunner
Hi all, once again thanks for the kind comments, always keeps one motivated! Small update tonight, made a start on a oil dot filter for the camo, to try and break the 'newness' of it up... Here I have applied very small dots of oil paint that match the colour of the surface I'm looking to weather. Once all these dots were applied, I then brushed them with a wide soft brush to try to blend them all together, leaving very little of the actual paint and only a stain behind, if that makes sense? These are the colours I used.. This is the left wing done, and yet to start on the right, just to show the contrast. It is very subtle, but it does knock the brightness of the new paint back a bit and makes it look a little older. I'll post some more photos hopefully tomorrow of the whole thing done, with some chipping as well. Thanks for looking Steve

Airgunner
This post is more about posting up photos after playing around with camera settings and see what happens. I think I am getting there, but still a lot to learn yet. Dot filter is now done, going to leave the thing alone now for a couple of days whilst it dries fully so I can start with the washes and chipping. Here is how we stand... More in a couple of days, Saturday is football day so it will give the paint a good chance to go off properly. Thanks for looking Steve

amblypygid
I've only just come to this thread, but you're making a top-notch model look very simple, Steve. Airgunner
Now the hurly-burly of Xmas is out the way, I managed to sneak a couple of hours at the bench. Some chipping added with silver enamel paint, and softened with a stiff brush... A very thin oil wash, applied with a thin brush and left for half an hour before wiping off... And she has her legs on at last.. That's all for now, hopefully I'll get the canopy on and a flay coat done tomorrow..
