mcdonnell
Hello,Friends - Painting progress at long last.''Voodoo' is now wearing her USAF ANG Grey livery.Just over an hour's worth of enjoyable airbrushing.'Xtracolor'Enamel Paint, thinned a little with White Spirit and a couple of drops of Cellulose Thinner. Please excuse the holding handle - it's not part of the kit! She will be left for a few days to fully cure before a couple of coats of Klear are brushed overall in readiness for masking and detail painting.Thank you and all the very best,Paul. Jan Remco Hello,Jan - Thank you very much for your kind reply and interest. The 'Xtracolor' Enamel Paint has a glossy finish and that is what you can see on her now.The 'Klear' coat will build the shine even more and also seal the original paint to protect it from future masking, etc. To be honest, the 'Klear' isn't totally necessary but I apply it as a safeguard more than any other reason.I'm looking forward to the detail painting. All the very best,Paul. Hello,RMP2 - Many thanks for your kind message and interest.I must admit that the Voodoo, with the greatest of respects to the type, was never in my Top10 of types but it must be the Voodoo Magic because this aircraft has certainly gained my liking.I'll like her even more when she's completed!! tonyot
This is coming along great Paul,.....the ADC Grey finish look superb. Personally I`d have to build it in Canadian markings with the cheatline,.....but thats just me and it will look fab in USAF colours too,.....almost finished now! I couldn`t think of a synonym of fantastic rhyming with Voodoo!!! Cheers Tony

Cheers Tony Hello,Tony - Many thanks for your very kind and much appreciated reply. The Canadian Scheme is superb and I had considered that option but decided on a USAF ANG Scheme because I hope to join her with a Phantom, etc.in due course and maintain the theme.I'm pleased that yoodoo like the Voodoo as well!! mcdonnell
Hello,Friends - Progress on detail painting is now under way.Anti-Glare Panel painted in Revell Matt No.9 and Nose Radome in Humbrol Satin Black No.85.I've broken my cardinal rule with this build as I've made some Intake Blanks which I decided on as a little extra splash of colour.Undercarriage Legs are painted in Humbrol Aluminium Metalcote. The Jet Pipes have also been given their base coat in the same Metalcote.Masking is under way for the rest of the NMF at the tail end.All the very best,Paul. BushBrit66
This old kit is fantastic and the poor fit is a myth. I have modern kits with less detail and accuracy with worse fit. Great job Sean

mcdonnell
This old kit is fantastic and the poor fit is a myth. I have modern kits with less detail and accuracy with worse fit. Great job Sean Hello,Sean - Thank you very much for your very kind reply and interest.Totally agree with you on the quality and detail of this kit.I've found it to be a pleasure to work with.My only 'tricky' area concerned the precise location of the main undercarriage gear.Trial and error and a gawp on Google helped me out with that and I'm content enough with the result. The amount of detail, the crystal clarity of the transparencies etc.will certainly give most up-to-date products a run for their money.I've wanted to keep the original detail as far as I possibly could but a modeller with greater skills than I have could really set about this and produce something very special indeed. All the very best,Paul.
BushBrit66
Hi Paul most of the Monogram range reflect this. Often a new kit comes out, the decades ahead of its time Monogram kit is declared obsolete, poor fitting etc. My experience is that the replacement kits are often inferior copies of MG with engraved lines. The newer F105 and F100 kits are good examples of this. Also I find the fit on these kits fine. Its a modelling urban myth! Still it means when people dump the MG kits erroneously I can pick them up for buttons! Cheers Sean

Uncle Tadhg
This is a superb build. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I'm a firm devotee of Monogram kits, and their Thunderchiefs - like this Voodoo - are a real treat.
