rossm
Is there a reliable reference for the Do217M variants? I fancy an M-9 (or is it an M-11?) which I think had long wings and a modified bomb bay for semi internal carriage of a single Fritz-X but I have no reliable information on the exact configuration. I have the Italeri M-1 and K-2 kits as well as Guano and Airwaves conversion/upgrade sets so should be able to get two aircraft with corrected rear fuselages out of that lot. One will be a K-2 but I'd like the other to be a Fritz-X carrying M variant as used against post D-Day shipping such as those shot down on 21st July 1944 by a Mosquito XXX of 406 Sqn. woody37
Hi Ross, I've got the book by Manfred Griehl that has a drawing and photo of the prototype of an M9 with the longer span designed to carry the Fritz but below it is another drawing with standard wings? According to the type list, the m9 was similar to the m8 having the longer span, but lacking turbo super chargers and no triangular plan form. Not sure how helpful that is

Not sure how helpful that is I've got that book, it's inconsistencies and the lack of agreement with my only other reference - the Warbirds Fotofax on Dornier Bombers - is what's confused me. I have a feeling there's no solid information on the late M variants but if I'm going to try an educated guess I'd like to know it can't be contradicted with any degree of certainty! rossm
Koster obviously found some information - see this build of their M-11 conversion http://www.swannysmodels.com/Do217M.html That's what I want to do but in 1/72 and it solves the details of the Fritz-X attachment. "All" I need now is to know the camouflage and markings for the two a/c lost on 21/7/44!
