Got the base colour of XF-53, neutral grey mixed 50/50 with lacquer thinners. Then the black areas were painted with XF-69, nato black mixed 50/50 with lacquer thinners. The front of the cockpit ball was painted with XF-63, german grey mixed 50/50 with lacquer thinners. Then this was sealed alclad aqua gloss.

plasmahal
Cockpit Ball Update Two The cockpit has been progressed with the decals applied. The pilot was painted with XF-69, nato black then the helmet and jacket painted tamiya X-1. Then the cockpit was started by gluing the centre part to the rear half of the cockpit and getting everything fitting snug. The kit is supplied with some kind of masks which have to be cut out but I felt more comfortable with tamiya masking tape.
John Laidlaw
Shall be keeping an eye on this - I have one stalled at the "just after base colour" stage, and will be interested to see how yours turns out .
plasmahal
Painting and Weathering Assemply is now complete and is a good fit. Then everything was primed with grey stynylrez. Then the black parts were painted with tamiya X-1 black gloss. Then the cockpit ball and panel frames were painted with mr hobby H338. Some areas were picked out with a darker shade of grey.
