Thanks for that. Those are 464(Aus) squadron Venturers, an interesting mix or early & later Boulton Paul turrets, & date wise, with those C-type roundels it must be the later half of 1942 rather than 1941. Although I couldn't spot it, one of those aircraft may have been SB-C, my late uncle was navigator on this one.

I had a look at the Key Forum link after posting this, which pretty much bears out the above & no, I wasn't copying. :P

Lovely video, but could it have been spliced together from two different locations? There seem to be a lot of very un Cornish looking trees ( ie upright) and hedgerows in some of the dispersal shots, the latter take off shot shows a typical open airfield and Portreath is on a cliff top and VERY wind blown.

Anyone else notice the dark panel lines on the wing top of the camera aircraft? The erk pulling the power set plug out with the trolley acc needs a talking to from Chiefy, and seeing a barrage balloon on Portreath mole! Period gold, love it.

Thanks for posting! Great footage. What is most interesting to me is the mix of turret types. There are a few BP turrets, but also Martin turrets with 4 .303's and a few with twin .50's. Thanks again.

Cheers

Not Martins but early & late BP turrets. The one with the 4 machine guns is the same/similar to the Defiants & later Halifaxs had, the more bulbous one with 2 machine guns is similar to the ones the early Halifaxs had.

Thanks for the clarification, those lower profile turrets sure bear a pretty good resemblance, at least at first glance. I understand that there is a manufacturer who does an accurate canopy with the correct budges that were used by the RAF. Any idea as to the manufacturer? I've got the Revell kit and have access to the Ventura at Chino air museum for pictures and other detail info. I have a special attraction to the Hudson and Ventura so want to do a bang up job. BTW, the CA Hudson kit is not quite as challenging as it is rumored, but it ain't no Tamiya kit, that's for sure!

I'm taking from your mention of the Revell kit your talking 1/48. I quick google hadn't shown any AM type A Boulton Paul turrets available but not being my scale I may well have overlooked something. Do you know anyone who has converted a 1/48 Defiant target tug might have their turret bits going spare?

Sorry for the confusion, I was talking about the forward canopy and windscreen. I believe there is a buldged upper window on the right top of the canopy that was an RAF requirement. The turret that is in the 1/48th Revell kit is an inaccurate version of the BP turret but at least an alternative to the Martin turret.
